The Daily Beast has a post about a recent Tiktok video by Canadian food challenger Joel Hansen in which he criticized an Asian grocery store's merchandise. The video was deleted after it receiving criticism from viewers.

    It should have been removed. Racism and ignorance are partners in offense and worse. Hopefully he understands what he did and might think of reassessing what he shares.

    Even if it’s a sound bite, he still offended many people. It’s definitely real and the backlash is warranted. This, and many other undocumented occurrences have shown what kind of person he is. He doesn’t tip servers, is racist, and uses other people for his own gain. Nearly every player in CE has a negative opinion of this guy. This kind of behavior will come back to haunt someone.

    Well, I cannot speak to every situation but I have been to a handful of restaurants with him and he has tipped even when I wouldn’t have, or I would have tipped poorly under normal dining circumstances.
    On another note, food challenges are kind of weird tipping situations anyway.

    @9:45, smh… you obviously have something against the guy and many of these comments seem likely to be from you. I just asked 3 CE’ers here on the west coast and none had an issue. so I feel that’s a weird rumour to spread. Unless it’s a biggie vs pac east coast thing lmfao

    2:29 – tipping for a food challenge shouldn’t be any different than if you went there as a patron, even if it is free if you complete it. The waitstaff does the same work. You should tip on the amount of the challenge, regardless whether it is free or not.
    You’re an asshole if you don’t, and because of CE’s not tipping at challenges, gives us all a bad name.

    3:01 nah, you obviously have never talked to the guy. plus he’s discussed this in his live streams extensively – he cannot follow everyone so to be fair he has chosen to follow no one. While I agree it looks kinda funny, I think I would probably be a lot more productive if I didn’t spend, who knows how long? catching up on those I follow or on pages like this 😉 lol. Respect for the bold move

    @ 10:49 you are exactly right. If he follows no one why does he always lurk and figure out where everyone’s going? Way easier just to follow someone, but instead he follows 0 because he’s just arrogant and self centered.
