The Dallas representative for Wing Bowl 21 will be selected on trash-talking about Philadelphia teams instead of competitive eating ability. Four competitors (Dallas / Fort Worth area residents only) will be selected this week for a "trash talk off" on January 18 that will determine the overall winner.

I eat for fun and this should never change. I sent the message below to KRLD 105.3 The Fan and stand by it. Eating competitions are a slice of Americana and should bring Americans together, not tear them apart.

Wing Bowl is an eating competition. Eating competition first, trash talking second. Don’t you think a local competition between eaters would be the best way to send DFW’s best eater to Philadelphia (and win the whole damn thing). You could have a single event or allow everyone to do their best stunt. I will be doing my research and calling in don’t worry, but as a Dallas Texan at heart, talking trash about others is not what I though ya’ll would come up with as a showcase of DFW’s best gurgitator.

Real trash talk is right here on this very site. The days of trash talk about how good or bad an eater is is a distant memory. On here everything is personal eaters wives eaters families and the worst part is hating on poor Seiken. His breath his ass his mental state. How can you get any more horrific trash talk than that?

Takes balls to talk ish then show up in ila. The fans tried to snowball Santa in a Dallas jersey. Hate to see what they’ll do to some ass from Texas.

The WFAN Washington Contest was a sham as well….no “pros” were allowed in that contest in 2012….the talent wont even get out of the first round

Joe, I applaud your attempt at getting the Dallas radio station to send an eater, but you are incorrect. Wing Bowl is a spectacle (good or bad) with an eating contest. Not the other way around. As noted on here ad nauseum, the eating competition has never been judged fairly, and the only reason real competitive eaters (real meaning they compete outside of Wing Bowl and its qualifiers) even attempt to get in is to be part of the spectacle.

There might be some interesting legal liability issues if an outsider gets assaulted after being encouraged by WIP to taunt the Wing Bowl crowd.

No pros didn’t stop Jamie from qualifying for Boston area. I hear he even went to Philly to do his stunt. That was against the rules WIP set so thanks to douchebag Angelo people can write essays and trash talk. Only WIP could bring more disrespect to the eating world.

@9:38 what real eaters? I love how every body keeps bashing wing bowl but “real” eaters have been in it. It’s rigged, but Joey won 3x, Sonya won, Kobi won… The locals should be able to enter its their city. As far as the winners go I’m pretty sure they have all competed in more than wing bowl. I am so tired of hearing all these cry baby bitches talk about fake judging, rigging contests, spectacles of eating. If you were there and you lost- you lost. That’s reality. People need to deal with it. Joey beat Kobi at Nathan’s but no one questions that. Sonya, Joey, and Kobi have all lost at some point. Eaters have a bad day and sometimes people are better at some foods than other people. Get over it already people. I’ve moved on. So should you.

Whoever it was that said Wing Bowl is a spectacle and not an eating competition, I agree! Below is the message I sent to KRLD 105.3 after they obviously wouldn’t let me enter the contest. All of the radio station affiliates are obviously the bit(hes of W.I.P. and serve no purpose except to make it seem like there is some validity to outsiders, the advertisers, and any person attending that is distracted from all the debauchery enough to realize there is some sort of eating competition going on.

Y’all are full of sh!t. I called today to do some trash talking, then I was told I would be put on the air in just a minute, after sitting on hold for over an hour I realized that y’all are just W.I.P.’s b!tch and don’t intend on sending a competitor. I waited that long to see if someone from your lame ass radio station would have the balls to explain what the fu(k happened, but as predicted y’all have no balls! I have been contacting y’all since November about winning a seat to Wing Bowl so I can represent Dallas and win the damn thing. Y’all need to learn how to actually put together a promotion that doesn’t stink and think about the local eaters who could actually represent Dallas and beat F N Philadelphia!!!!! I will call again tomorrow, but I bet you lame asses won’t let me on the air, because you are afraid of what I have to say about YOU and not Philadelphia. Try to understand the importance of sending a real competitive eater that has been training all year to win, rather than some crappy ass trash talker who will be booed, harassed, and out in the first round! Plus, I have been listening since Tuesday and what the fu(k is going on with the locals attempting to talk trash. It has sounded like a bunch of little b!tches whining about whatever comes to their mind at the time. Please let me speak tomorrow, so I can go to Philly and win this F N Wing Bowl!

I can be reached at (214) ***-****. Call me if you grow a pair!

After they received this message through multiple forms of social media and direct email, they deleted all existence of it, kept me from following them on Twitter, and obviously have not gotten back to me with any kind of an answer.

If you want an actual Dallas area wing eating contest, there will be a Wingstop Atomic Wing Eating contest at the Irving Zestfest Jan 26

I agree with 9:38 from yesterday, in that WB is first and foremost a spectacle, within which an eating event takes place.

Sloth being inducted into the WB HOF for his splitting-the-atom-like reversal in the “eating” event seems to further justify that.

One or more naive, but outstanding, eaters, even one or more of the winners, may have gotten those priorities / roles a bit backwards, unfortunately, though the lesson was presumably learned quickly enough.

I called today, but had no luck winning. At least they put me on the air and listened to me argue my case. It obviously wasn’t meant to be. Thank you ojrifkin for the recommendation about the ZestFest contest. I stand by my opinion that eating should always stay fun and bring people together; no matter whether it is a contest, a competition, or just a great meal with friends and family.

I agree with Joe but if you intend on having a meal out with friends and family make sure not one of them accidently spits in your food while conversating. I would walk out or throw it out

It’s a hoax. It’s always a hoax- the whole WB show. The guy that wrote the “500 word essay” is a pro. They act like they are taking punks, but they’re all pros. McDonald got in- didnt he.
