Marcos Owens has posted the top 3 of today's chili eating contest held at the Chit Chat Diner in Hackensack, NJ: 1) Dave Brunelli $1,000 prize 2) Pat Philbin $250 3) Marcos Owens $100. update The diner has posted a gallery. The prizewinners do not have to worry about their checks bouncing.

    They had a qualifier which was 2 minutes then they changed the legnth of the main contest from 8 minutes to 5. Within that 7 minute contest period myself Dave & Pat ate over a gallon on chili each. I can’t give exact #s because they didn’t have any scales so they estimated with the final results. There were no utensil’s used in this contest & we were only allowed to eat with our hands.

    I knew he atleast inquired, cuz his email was listed on the email to all, but i also heard that someone had tried to enter anonymously. I assumed it was Pat, & since they wouldn’t let whoever it was compEAT anonymously, I thought he wouldn’t compEAT. Then again, maybe it was an additional eater???

    If I knew they were going to drop the time by 3 minutes, I probably would have given it a shot…oh well.

    I don’t think so anon. I emailed the MLE last week about my intentions to do other local contests/challenges and that they could take me off their roster/rankings at their leisure..I’ve been to Nathan’s 5 times and most of their other contests are out of my traveling range so it was time.

    Pat , even though we had our differences which included pest invasions and so forth, i could never bring myself to hold a long term grudge against you. You were one of my favorite competitive eaters from the very moment you accidently ( i think) spit in my left eye at Hartford in May 2004 . As of now there is no movement in the rankings so let us keep our fingers crossed that they might overlook it MLE would not be the same without you

    I would estimate that if Pat ate close to a gallon he consumed close to 6400 grams of sodium but very little fat. Unlike Nathans hot dogs which have equal or more plus fat grams . Yes it was essential that EMT was around or eaters with blood pressure issues could have been room temperature in a hurry

    OJ hasnt linked anything from Seiken site since 2008 . As a token gesture you might see something like “brian seiken posted a contest video” but thats where it ends. I admit that O&A stuff is funny . They really get down on MLE and George Shea
