Eats of Strength tickets available
Online registration for free tickets to all “Eats of Strength” filming sessions in Islandia, NY is now available online on the IFOCE contests page. The schedule for these sessions follows:
May 6, 1pm Don “Moses” Lerman (bologna)
May 12, 1 pm, TBD
May 12, 3 pm, “Jammin” Joe Larue
May 13, 1 pm Tim “Eater X” Janus
May 13, 3 pm Crazy Legs Conti
May 14, 1 pm Hungry Charles Hardy
Brian Seiken has additional information about the sessions and says that Sonya Thomas will be the sixth eater and might attempt to break Dale Boone’s baked bean record so the May 12 1pm session could feature Sonya.
updated 1:43 pm Brian Seiken has emailed and says that Sonya will probably not attempt an eating record for Eats of Strength and that Cookie Jarvis is a possible replacement.

Cheap publicity or cheap shot?
One thing I’ve learned is that each competition is it’s own beast; the venue, the weather, the crowd. Everything unfamiliar until the music starts. Maybe it’s Eminem’s “8 Mile”, maybe it’s the story of the “battlefield between God and Lucifer”, or even a child’s experience with Captain Crunch. You’re focused on your plate, your table position, jockeying for elbow room, positioning the water..and then it is 3..2..1..eat. Can this be replicated at the staged Eats of Strength? Where is the respect for the records? What about the kid that went the distance, and watched Joey and Sonya battle it out for 2nd and 3rd? Somebody is going to win a new record, but if they are the only one hunched over the table who did they beat?…and is it competitive eating?
Anyway, just a thought.
