Erik Denmark article in Seattle Times

The Seattle Times has a long article about Erik “the Red” Denmark with coverage of his victory at the Shea Stadium qualifier. Denmark had about $10,000 in travel expenses last year.

Rich Shea says he is unaware of any diabetic eaters, which would come as news to Pat Philbin.

    Hey, thanks SP. I almost made it to Atlanta for Krystals last year and I may have gone to Atlanta Nathan’s this year if I hadn’t qualified at Shea. I’m sure we will meat up sometime in the near future.

    Very interesting article Erik. Really liked learning more about the person and the eater. I really admire your dedication (both monetary and time) hope the prize money comes in more as time goes on to cover your costs. Good luck on the 4th. I will be rootin for you and Joey and the Locust (the west coast contingent)!

    I gotta say that was one of the best articles I’ve seen on competitive eaters. Erik, good luck, you are one of the people giving this sport heart. Greg Bishop, way to go. It is nice to see a reporter with an education put real time into an article about Competitive eating.
