FoodBeast reports that a foie gras burger eating contest will be held at The Playground in Santa Ana, CA on August 11 even though foie gras has been banned by the state of California.

Yes you are paying to eat but it is not a menu item. the contest will be filmed for a promotional video. Not sure what the charge is for but they cant sell it so the food is free!!
