So since Pete won’t be going up against Joey or Pat any time, what do you all think of Ben Monson? Only time will tell how he does in contests but he made some statements with the challenges! Unlike Pete, he is doing it “right” so he can be in IFOCE contests…

I don’t know about right or wrong but Pete definitely did it different. My only aspirations are to have a good time enjoying those around me and the things that I do. I do on some level wish that Pete was an I.F.O.C.E. competitor so that I would have the chance to compete against him as he is a very good CE; but I don’t believe that will happen. Although I do look forward to eventually gaining admittance to the ranks of Joey and Pat I have to be realistic in that it will take some time before i have enough experience to truly contend.

It’s good to see someone with Top 10 talent like Ben getting ready to hit the circuit full time. We haven’t had someone with his potential break into CE since…when?…and I was beginning to think we wouldn’t see it again.

Seriously – who cares – he should focus the energy and time he spends on marketing himself and his self made videos and align with real eaters and compete in the real world. The self-righteous, hoier than though attitude regarding contracts is immature. Without contract that bind, there would be no control, structure or MONEY in the industry.

I would pay an air ticket from here to anywhere to see an event with Kobayashi, Joey, Pat, Pete and Ben. I know it would depend what kind of food and how long the contest would be to say who winner might be. I think that is good question for a poll, who would win with a contest with these 5 competitors. what is your opiniong guys?

Given, say, 10 events with 10 different foods, I think you have them in the correct order, in terms of talent. Nothing against Pete or Ben, but they’re not quite in the same league as the top three.

If the IFOCE let anyone in the top six eat against Pete in a series of contests the lad would quickly descend back to earth. Said another way, there’d be a “Failure to Launch.”

And yes, Luther, I even think he’d have a rough time with a “Girl.”

I’d love to vote for my self but if there was money on the line I would have to go with Joey.

I think you’d have to go down the IFOCE rankings scale about 4 or 5 more spots to find Pete’s comfort zone.

However, I’m sure Joey, Pat, and Koby would absolutely love to eat against Pete in a winner take all match.

I wouldn’t pay to see it, however. It wouldn’t be that close.

Though I think Tim is ranked just a bit too highly, I think Pete might win 30 percent of the time against him.

I like how Ben is already being lumped into a convo with the top 3… While I’ve ate with Ben many times, and I can honestly say this dude is legit, much like Pete, if the top 3 statement is true, it’s yet to be scene. Unfortunately for Pete it looks like it never will be while in Ben’s case it will be.

I will however say (based solely on numbers) I’d put Ben in the 4-6 range, which is a scary thought considering he and I started taking CE’ing seriously just 2 months ago. I can also say he’s highly motivated and has some serious potential for the mere fact he’s a freak of nature (the way he just man handled that kitchen sink in Walnut Creek was simply amazing and let me tell it’s a lot bigger then it looks on TV – Man v Food)…

If it was accepted by IFOCE, I would most def pay to see Ben and Pete compete against the top 5.

Ya i wasn;t going to say it out of self-abasement but it is quite a spectical to see when i havn’t done any formal competition to warrent it but I’ll try to live up to the expectations.

You’ll do well Ben. You’ll probably start at a level above where Joey and Pat started in their first year, but look at them now!

    I’ll be pulling for you.

Well, that was just my humble personal opinion, again I know it would depend on how much food, what kind of food, is dunking is allowed or not, if it is more a matter of speed or amount in longer period of time, the thing is that again, that would be something to see in competitive eater, real top 10 guys because let’s say we include Tim, Bob, other of the japanese competitors and other of the AICE competitors like Ian or Gentleman Joe, the more the better but in a real contest to see who the king is, that’s it. Until we don’t have a match with all of them competing at the same time, saying who can eat the most of them all will always be a matter of speculation.
