Thank heavens for having a real eater on the show in 2010. Go Pete!

Pete is the only undefeated eater in the world. How can some of you people be so negative on him and his accomplishments
as an eater.

You can NOT compare yr to yr records.
The meatballs may have been smaller, were served warmer, etc.
If the original record holder isn’t there, or allowed to be there, then there’s no way to realistically compare.
You can’t say in essentially one breath that in one event (strawberries) the #’s were lower because of the condition of the food & then not acknowledge the same in the next when the conditions are the opposite.
Also, Pete is w/out doubt in this experts opinion, better than last yr.
The anony coment @ 11:47 was from me. I thought I was logged in.

Here’s a reasonable way to compare.
The 4 competitiors that I identified (sorry if I missed some) as competing the last 2 yrs in meatballs were Goose, Kuhn’s, Vac & Frank Wach. They had % increases of 13.15, 14.24, 12.28 & 15.6 for an avg increase of 13.84%
This is a much higher % increase than the decrease in strawberries was. If memory serves the % decrease in strawberries was between 5 & 11% with an avg of about 7 or 8%.
A real world example of these type of stats could be the increase the competitors had in meatballs was comparable to the % that Booker & Jarvis used to beat me by when we were competing together.

Dear anon 12:39.
PETE IS NOT UNDEFEATED.
Pete lost in a team event in Canada to Pete “Broken Wing” Maruzio, “Tiny” Tim Rauscheder, Kevin “The Lion” Kordalski, and Tony “Big Munch” Martinez.
Pork Slap was there to officiate.
As part of the loss, team Canada (headed by Furious Pete) was supposed to sing the U.S. national anthem. Well he and his team did not sing it. Maybe he is a sore loser, but we wont know until he goes up against Chestnut, or Bertoletti, or the great one Kobayashi.
PETE IS NOT UNDEFEATED.

Really?!… I thought about addressing this in the original posting but deemed it unnecessary.
8+ years consistently involved in the activity or CE. Having been a part of possibly every eating org’s to exist. My yrs reporting on CE thru Speedeat. Having traveled the globe for this activity, etc, etc, etc, etc!!!
I’m not saying I know everything about everything, but to think i’m not an expert, would be to say no one is an expert on anything.
Pete is undefeated as a solo, which is all that really matters. Team events are for company picnics!
He was following the company (at the time) line, otherwise he wouldn’t have been stupid enough to trust an undefeated record to others. Either that or he thought he was good enough to carry those other unknown eaters.

Pat, Joey or Koby would totally embarrass Pete. It’s a shame the ifoce won’t let that happen.

Joe just because you ate with every other eating org does not make you an expert. You are a great eater though. Pete did lose i n Canada according to anon post wether it was a team contest or not a loss is a loss. He should have went through with the national anthem. To me that just shows how much of a baby he is. I dont think he can hang with Joey,Kobe, or Pat.

I agree with Joe on this. Like he alluded to, if he’s not an expert in CE, after competing for over 8 years in multiple organizations in a myriad of events in as many locations, then no experts exist in any field!
I’ll go on to say that whether you like his take on things or not, GJoe is probably the one eater MOST qualified to render an expert opinion on competitive eating and its eaters.
Actually, I’d like to see Joe have his own column / commentary in a competitive eating-related periodical one day when CE is followed by more of the population.
I’d likely disagree with him nearly half of the time, but I’d be very interested to hear what the guy has to say, nonetheless.
