Gal Sone’s latest blog entry is about her appearance at a buzzword award ceremony. Mycom reports that representatives of the top 10 buzzwords received awards and Gal Sone represented the term oogui (big eating / gluttony) Pink Tentacle has a list with descriptions of the 60 buzzwords that were candidates for the top 10. “Food Fighter” was one of the buzzwords that failed to make the cut.

In the picture on the left, Gal Sone is between bathing suit wearing comedian Yoshio Kojima whose catchphrase is “Sonna no kankei nee” (“What does that matter?”) and transvestite Ikko, who is famous for the exclamation of surprise “dondake?!”.

Today is Gal Sone’s 22nd birthday. She already celebrated the occasion with a cake bearing her likeness.

It is going on nearly 2 years of her name being discussed and its getting annoying. She has yet to compete against ifoce competition nor has expressed any interest in coming to the U.S. She has basically been competing against herself because most of her japanese competition is unknown to all of us.

I am not too knowledgeable about it but aren’t most if not all ifoce competitions are about speed eating. Gal Sone doesn’t speed eat. She normally puts on demonstrations of her eating volume. In fact to call her a food fighter is kind of a misnomer. I have never seen her in a real competition against other big time eaters. I also don’t see her ever wanting to come the US. In Japan she is a oogui(big eater) idol. She could never be that in the US.

Why would she compete against IFOCE people? Based on what I’ve seen (assuming it isn’t post production trickery) her thing is to eat a huge amount, but at a normal pace. I don’t think anyone ever said she’s a speed eater in the 8-12 minute sense. I doubt she would say she’s a speed eater herself. Why would she want to set herself up for failure when she has a good niche going for herself? Marathon runners don’t compete in the 55m dash. . .

I don’t see how anything she does is worth mentioning. Anyone can eat two bowls of noodles, go throw up, and then eat another two bowls. I guess being able to throw up a lot in Japan is an accomplishment.

My last comment did not get posted so lets try this one. I love gal sone so much because she is the best in the world and the prettiest even though the us eaters are pretty too. (right). Thats a damned lie but i may have better luck getting a lie posted than the blunt truth.
