The Gambit has an interview with Adrian Morgan about defending his crawfish eating title at the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans Saturday. Sonya Thomas, Nate Biller and Alex Perez are also expected to compete.

    what kind of stupid remark is that? We all know that Sonya is no longer the best female eater out there . Her confidence has been totally destroyed with the advent of new competition such as Sudo and Cardboard but her skills and speed are still competitive enough to beat many of the ranked eaters in the organization. If she can possibly win back her Nathans title her stock will soar immensely If you notice she’s being selective in her contests and its not because she fears the competition but because nobody is flying her out to events and covering her hotel expenses like they did in the past

    First, I hardly doubt Adrian or any other competitive eater would hold back anything to “let” anyone else win.

    Second, yes, absolutely, the competition these days is much, much more fierce than in the heyday of early greats like Cookie Jarvis, The Godfather, Moses Lerman, and still-current, and still-great Badlands Booker. But that’s the nature of things. No one, in any sport, for either gender, stays on top forever.

    But doing it for 10 years is pretty damn mind-boggling, as is still being able to hang with (using the term mildly) most of the best eaters in the world today.

    The monikers, “The Tsunami” and “The Black Widow” will be remembered when most of us are in wheelchairs or on some form of life suuport. Those two were the life support for their respective divisions in competitive eating as we know it today.

    And Joey Chestnurt is right up there among them!

    May God bless all three of them abundantly!

    11:40 — wow your nonsense is mind boggling. I don’t care about MLE rankings. How is Sonya not the top rated woman eater? When was the last time Miki won one contest? When did Michele win even one contest? They cannot even bring Miki to GMA the day after Nathan’s for fear she may get the bomb threat question. Sonya put Nathan’s, wing bowl, Buffalo, … Could go on …. On the map. Even just last year, Adrian wins crayfish — page 3. Sonya wins oysters … front page, full photo in the Gazette. Without her there would not be a seprate cat for woman Nats. You guys are crazy. By the way, Sonya’s been “doing this” for longer than 10 years. If you want to talk about legend, get your facts straight.
