GJoe competes in Krystal prequalifier
(From anonymous comment) KrystalSquareOff.com reports that “Gentleman” Joe Menchetti ate 24 burgers in 2 minutes in a Krystal prequalifier in Nashville, 4 off the record held by Joey Chestnut and Bob Shoudt. The article mentions Menchetti’s estrangement from the IFOCE, but does not say if he will be allowed to compete in the 8 minute qualifier on Sunday. GJoe is in Tennessee to compete in the Backyard Burgers finals tomorrow in Memphis.

24 is impressive but what are your motivations Joe? If you were just trying to pull a fast one on the IFOCE and use the uninformed Krystal people than that is shaddy – no respect for that. But, if you really do want to compete with the IFOCE than more power to you, competition never bothers me. It might be a breath of fresh air for you not to always have to come up with something negative to say about the MLE and just enjoy it for what it is – a superior (yet, admittedly still flawed in some ways) eating organization. Maybe you just can’t bring yourself to pretend that you like Boone. Either way, you put your reputation on the line now so hopefully you make good with this.

AICE vs. IFOCE. The battle of words has escalated from words to actions with plans for possible legal action and civil unrest.
AICE has been badmouthing IFOCE with words on the Internet. With the Krystal’s Square Off that battle has been cranked up a notch.
Krystal’s was chosen because they have an open qualifier that any Joe Q. Public, walking off the street, can enter. Word is you do not need to submit your name to IFOCE and allow them to pick and choose who can compete, like you do for so many other IFOCE events.
Already in Jacksonville, Rubber Gut was used to test their theory. Not only did she compete but she did so well that she might just make a wildcard spot and compete in the World Finals. At the time Rubber Gut was and might still be a member of AICE. There was a mention in Jacksonville, as the results were being announced by Rich Shea, that a contract will be offered to Rubber Gut but no word yet on her status with AICE or IFOCE.
Next to step up to the plate is Gentleman Joe. A very vocal AICE member. He entered the open qualifier. With his huge total it looks like he will be in the finals this weekend in Nashville. His goal is to either qualify outright for a spot in the World Finals by winning in Nashville or by at least getting a high number for one of the wild card spots.
More AICE members are already lined up for future Krystal’s open qualifiers. Can you say Dale Boone returns? Maybe to Perry? Dale Boone once again meets Pat Bertolitti? After the Nathan’s Qualifier at the Atlanta Zoo in 2006, can someone say extra security?
One idea that was tossed around AICE membership was to create a disturbance at the World Finals in Chattanooga. Already hotel rooms have been booked.
The idea was to set up an informational picket line where flyers about upside of AICE and the downside of IFOCE would be handed out. A show of unity with AICE members would also garner International Media coverage when picket signs were raised during the contest to hog the limelight. If their picket signs are taken away, during the contest, they plan to reach in their clothing and pull out cloth banners to unfurl in protest. Then video and still clips would be sent to as many National Media outlets as possible in hopes to garner more free publicity. At least they can use the videos on You Tube.
If for some reason AICE members were not allowed to compete in the World Finals after the AICE members won a qualifier or won a wild card spot; legal challenges were being drawn up along with a request for a court injunction demanding that the World Finals be postponed.
The goal is to bring discredit to IFOCE and AICE is using Krystal’s to do it. They say they read the release that Krystal’s has you sign and no where does it say you must be an IFOCE member to compete. This they say allows them to go after the 35 thousand dollar purse.
The next step is to show the sponsors just what kind of people run IFOCE in hopes that the sponsors will think twice about entering any future deals with IFOCE and then AICE can step in and sweep up those contacts.
Rubber Gut still is or was a member of AICE when she competed in Jacksonville. Her total might be good enough to get her a wild card spot. Gentleman Joe wants to seal the deal of getting AICE members on the World Finals stage. With talk of Rubber Gut being offered an IFOCE contract, Gentleman Joe decided to try his luck. His goal is to win the qualifier outright or at least get into a wildcard spot. Gentleman Joe has already said he will not sign an IFOCE contract but he will compete in the Krystal’s Square Off World Finals put on by IFOCE. 10 thousand is 10 thousand he says.
The battle of AICE going after IFOCE continues.

Hey Erik:
Nice attempt to be smart. What your dialogue completely lacks is the understanding and history of IFOCE unethical behavior towards eaters. I could be wrong and maybe you do understand the history. If this is the case and you don’t care then you are with the organziation you need to be with.

Simple solution.

24 in 2 minutes big deal. Let him compete with top IFOCE eaters and he will get blown out and miserably embarrassed the same way he was blown out and miserably embarrased by Booker Hardy and Jarvis in the years he competed against them. Nothing but a loser

This is not Ben’s deli or the wingbowl where the Shea’s have the upper hand and can dictate who is allowed to compete and who cant. The last thing they want to do is piss off the Krystal sponsors with the aice ifoce bullshit. With that said it would be in their best interests to fly Chestnut or Bertoletti into Nashville and end it right there. You still have the wilcard scene to deal with so its not over yet. A legal war will ensue if for some reason Menchetti is not allowed to compete in the qualifer or the finals.

Regardless of whether menchetti wins or loses he got what he wanted in the 2 min qualifier. aice records go unnoticed but this turns heads. If he gets to compete in qualifier against Shoudt its more than he expected. He is doing the memphis burger contest so this was no skin of his back because memphis is just around the corner from nashville. He is not as dumb as he looks.

Joe competed because he was close and he is an eater and wanted to see what he could do. Leave him the hell alone.
It’s all just eating……I wish everyone would quit blowing crap out of proportion.
Get a life hangman.

it’s just an easy way to prove that AICE and IFOCE eaters at the top aren’t that far behind.
Yeah, good one, Hangman….. I don’t think there’s anyone that ridiculous. Unfurling banners and whatnot from beneath clothing….. come on.

There is no vast aice conspiracy going on. Rubber Gut, I think, just wanted to compete, & doesn’t understand the bad blood between orgs.
I just happened to be in the general direction.
I do not know if I will be allowed to compete on Sunday, & if allowed on Sunday, & win or make it as a wild card, BUT I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PLANS TO FIGHT, OR SUE TO GET IN.
Hangman is WRONG, I did sign a waiver saying I do not have a right to compete & only mle eaters are allowed in the finals.
If they choose to let me in the finals, which I doubt, I will be a “gentleman”.
As of this writing, I do not know if I will go on Sunday, even if allowed.
There are no aice “members”. And i’m tired of fighting, I JUST WANT TO EAT!
From me, there will be NO protests or picketing, etc.
Occasionally, even for me, its not about the $$$. I just wanted to see what I could do, & if in a 2 minute qually again, I may break Joey’s 28.

One thing you IFOCE morons totally miss is the fact that an IFOCE event is about as exciting as watching paint dry. Even if the IFOCE Eaters have the top 3-4 Eaters in terms of food eaten the entertainment value sucks. Watching Boy George or Trickey Dick emcee is like watching the same bad movie over and over. Most people don’t give a crap about the amount eaten as much as the over-all entertianment value. Because your egos are tied into your membershit with the IFOCE you will never see things objectively.

I never miss the opportunity to see an I.F.O.C.E. event when I can. George, Richard, Mike, Ryan, and Dave set the standard as M. C. I’m sure they might offer lessons to others who need it if they are asked nicely.

Why should Joe be allowed to compete & come back in the IFOCE fold?? He racks up trophies & cash in the AC, & should be banned for life from all IFOCE contests AND qualifiers. He was a Benedict Arnold to the IFOCE (& it looks like he ate Benedict Arnold too with his new weight gain) Keep that dirty blimp out of the real contests & let him beat 2nd graders in pie eating contests in the AC.

1/4 oz burgers for humble bob is the only way i can see him eating 39 . It takes 4 seconds to take the burger out of the box and you have to eat them one at a time so how the hell can those be regulation size krystals ?

Am I the only one who could care less if GJoe competes in Krystals? Then again, maybe I don’t know enough about GJoe’s infamous past with the IFOCE to understand why there’s so much animosity about his attempt this weekend.
Still, I think it would be cool if there were one contest each year which is open to EVERYONE. No politics. No non-compete clauses. Just wide open. May the best man (or woman) win.

Since I haven’t been called by Krystal’s & told that I can’t compete on Sunday, I do believe they would let me compete in the contest. It still would be highly unlikely if the Shea’s would let me compete in the finals.
Additionally, with the cost involved to change my flight, & the pain in the arse it would cause my family, for me to be gone an additional day, I am highly unlikely to attend tommorrow. Someone want’s to pay it, I may go just to see what would happen WHEN I made th wildcard)
I still think I can beat what is now the old record of 28. I do not know if I can come anywhere near 39 though.
Congratulations Humble Bob, That’s awesome. Forget 100, csomeone might do 150 this year.
If you want to call me chicken, that’s fine.
I concede that HBob would beat me tommorrow.
It was a pleasure meeting Kitty & the the rest of the Krystal people.
BTW, results of BackYard Burger
I won, eating 7 1/3rd lb Angus burgers in 3:58
Ian came in 2nd @ 4:58
Dale Boone came in 3rd @ 5:23 or 5:28?? He actually competed this time.

39 in 2 mins! Highly unlikely with the existing rules of only being allowed one cup and eating one burger at a time. I would like to hear Bob’s account…….did he have multiple sandwiches soaking? Just how small were they? Did they put any buns on them? lol
Good job Bob if it was legit according to the existing qualifying rules. Freaking incredible is more like it!

I don’t think my last post went through.
Long story short, I will not be going back to Nashville unless I get a phone call from someone in charge (Krystals/MLE) that I will be allowed to compete in the finals if I win or make it as a wild card.
To make it in time, that call would have to be by 10am CST.
Congrats hbob, thats AMAZING!

Joe there is no way anyone can do close to 150. That’s too much. The eater would reverse first. I do, however, expect to see the 110 barrier broken by both Joey and Koby. I think Pat B. might do 90+, and I expect to see Humble Bob do around 70. No one else will break the 70 barrier. Tim and Sonya will do 60 – 65. Those two won’t be full, but they need more time to do well in Krystals.
That’s just me. What do I know? I was wrong about hot dogs and I’m probably way out in left field here too.
