Forget Kobayashi and the night he spent in jail – he is actually auxiliary in this comprehensive Time Out NY 4th of July preview. Check out the eater bios and the glutton guide to independence day: http://tiny.cc/74etr. Time Out NY did a really nice job of putting this together, it would be a shame to only link this inconsequential side bit about Kobayashi.

How very self-serving of you Erik the Red and how quickly you forget who gave competitive eating its international pull. Your head is way too big even for your height. I am sure that the Sheas are bull about all of the press Kobayashi is getting but that’s the way things go. He is a star, he will always be a star long after every single eater in MLE is forgotten, even Chitwood. Except for Kobayashi and sometimes Sonya, the rest is all details. Interchangeable. Enjoy your time in the sun but do not ever call Kobayashi or what he chooses to do inconsequential. He could eat you and spit you out. Think you touched a chord here? I guess so. Not everyone has liberties, financial or otherwise.

    Thanks for the link!

Erik, Damon, Tim Brown and Pat’s write ups were great, very funny, good job fellas…

Although I think the funniest was Grace Lee’s quote: “I placed third among the men in Charlotte and I’m ready to dominate in Coney Island. I have decided ‘Maneater’ is perfect for my fighting name, because I’m still undefeated”…

Does Maneater know she is in competition in the womens division… also in the same exact sentance she says she placed third and is undefeated???? Good thing this girl has decent looks because I truly think sombeody dropped a 5lb burrito on her head.

Congratulations to each and every competitor. It is great to have profiles and photos of all who worked so hard to get to Coney. On game day usually ESPN focusses on the middle of the table so if you blink or dip into your salsa, you might miss your favorite eaters portion of the show. Not much of a race this year but better. Before, only focussing on Kobayashi And Chestnut made it less interesting in some ways. At least this year there are more contenders a bit closer to Joey.
