    Wooah Rhonda, are you being tongue in cheek? This is a contest, not an “eating challenge”, but you did suddenly make me realize that Sonya never does eating challenges. Interesting. Point well taken.

    I was being facetious, SI. It has always been my understanding that challenges are OK WITH prior MLE approval. Certainly, it is neither authorized, nor tolerated, for ANY MLE eater to go outside the Fed to make money from eating.

    I don’t know that Sonya has never done an eating challenge, though I don’t think so, because it would be news only if she failed an attempt, which will not happen in this lifetime, unless she is part of a team effort.

    However, when she ate the 65 HBEs in 6 minutes, 40 seconds, back in 2003, that was sort of a challenge. According to Legs’ “Stuff Your Face” article in Topic Magazine, Legs and Sonya performed during a Rock Concert in Indianapolis, IN. Legs opened for Mudvayne (oysters), and Sonya opened for Godsmack (hard-boiled eggs). That article is one of the best, most enjoyable CE-related articles I have ever read, and reading that article serves as a definitive marker event when I was really, really turned on to Competitive Eating.

    I haven’t heard of a one-person challenge yet, in which Sonya would not absolutely tear it up! If I were the Fed, I would allow Sonya to smoke as many challenges as she possibly could. And that is what The Widow would do. What better way for MLE to get attention.

    But like I said, for smart guys they don’t use their noggins!

    So far to my knowledge the only high profile eaters that truly abide by the contract refraining from eating challenges are CLC, Sonya, Badlands & Juliet . Not sure if its out of loyalty or non interest

    Actually Sonya was attempting to break Badlands 9 min record of 38 .They ran out of eggs and history was made.
