Gyaruru vs. Shirota contest
(From R Suzuki) ntv.co.jp reports that Nobuyuki “the Giant” Shirota remains winless against girl groups after losing to Gyaruru (He lost to Morning Musume in their 2001 Christmas special) Shirota wore a wig and competed as “Jumbo Kurota”

He’s a nice guy, allowing him to be a punching bag for those girls to beat up on in tandem. I still firmly believe that Koby is the only eater in Japan who can top him. What I can’t figure out is why Shirota hasn’t entered the Tokyo qualifiers the last few years, because surely he would smoke all other competitors in that venue.

If I can get this into the proper sequence, I will jump in here. Nice to see your comments Rhonda, as always. I do not always agree but most of the time am in complete alignment with your thoughts which are always diplomatically presented and with great humor, an incredibly important part of one’s character when used without sarcasm. I howled at your barking at the moon comments and the weiner bits…….in order to not add to embarrassing my “children”, I will leave it at that.
I think that Shirota has found his niche in Japan and is happy in that niche. It is about entertainment. Kobayashi is a serious athlete.
As for the outreach from Liz about Kobayashi and translating, I could not in good conscience put something serious on eatfeats because of the juxtaposition of comments, though I am very happy to see that Luther has acknowledged and put into effect a move from the black hole dark side into the lighter side. Thanks Luther.
Additionally, OJ came through, as always, with his link to the article France24 so that things were clarified.
Speaking of links……..I enjoyed another contribution.

By the way, Brian Seiken has a great write-up on this on his site – http://www.beautifulbrain.com.
Just teasing you Kevin, but that is really a fabulous typo.
Overall, I do not wish to be the arbiter of proper behavior. It makes me feel old, and I am young at heart. I very much look forward to all that will unfold at Coney. It would be an understatment to say that eatfeats and MLE and other websites and the media will be burning up the internet highway.
GO MEATSWEATS. If reality were so terrific, none of us would spend so much time fantasizing.
Cheers to ALL, in the spotlight and not.

Rona, once again you make a lot of sense. Like you say, we may not always agree, but I, for one, have the highest regard for your pearls of wisdom and insight.
Your presence here, as limited as it may be, shines like the star Sirius on a clear, moonless winter night, without which my visits on eatfeats would surely wane.
Thanks Crazy Legs’ Mom!
