Heinz listed as IFOCE sponsor

(From Philly Guy) Heinz is now listed as an IFOCE sponsor on ifoce.com. Investor Nelson Peltz, who has obtained a seat on the Heinz board, was willing to pay $200,000 to cosponsor Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest last summer. The link goes http://www.topthistv.com/, a site for people who create their own Heinz commercials.

update The sponsorship was mentioned in a comment by Philly Guy and not Wing Tut

Talking with the people at the IFOCE , it looks like they will be using a large portion of that money from Heinz as prize money to the top ten finishers at Coney Island this year. This is something that that is long over due, and it shows that the IFOCE is committed to the competitors that train so hard every year to make this event as special as it is.

Heinz is a big time sponsor, that is a good sign. Hopefully they will put up big time prize money.

Ok…Let me see if I got this right. The $hea’s are going to provide prize $ this time for Coney. If Peltz went nutty to become the Chairmen or whatever, to atleast partly become a sponsor of Coney, then he is surely willing to go atleast $500,000. maybe a MIL instead of the $200,000. that has been previously reported.

What do you, the eaters think would be fair to split up between the eaters assuming $200,000. Before answering, take into account that they are already making buckets full o’ cash from the hot dog sponsor, & have already paid Kobe in the past & probably Chestnut just to show up & do publicity. So, this $$ is 57 varieties of gravy. My personal guess is it will be a little bit more than whatever the current high has been.

As much as I try to go against ifoce sponsors, in this case I can’t. My Ballpark frank goes from good to great w/Heinz & turns a Nathan’s dog into being edible. I would use Heinz instead of other Ketchup even if Pelz was ______. You fill in the blank.

I think the funiest thing of all is why should Heinz Ketchup advertise at all… what are you gonna use Hunt’s catsup… Pleeease.

You all are dreaming. Nothing much is going to change at Nathans. Maybe the eaters will each get a case of ketchup or pickles.

With Heinz as a sponsor, does this mean IFOCE/MLE will endorse John Edwards for President and will John Edwards show up and campaign at Coney since his wife is the Heinz Heir and she makes the bulk of the money in that family?

Sorry, I meant John Kerry. Teresa Heinz Kerry is his wife.
