IFOCE Guantanamo Bay Labor Day event

IFOCE.com has a report about an event held on Labor Day to entertain the military personnel at Guantanamo Bay Navy Base. Tim Janus, Crazy Legs Conti and Pete Davekos sat out the lucrative Labor Day weekend contests to compete in a Pro-Am Nathan’s competition paired with a member of the armed forces.
The only coverage of the event I could find is a brief mention on Traveling Miles.

That’s awesome! The Sheas couldn’t have sent three better eaters to represent our sport to the US Military. I’m both jealous and excited for them.

Not one of them served a day in the armed forces. Why not US Male?

I wholeheartedly congratulate & thank the Ifoce, Crazylegs Conti, Tim “Eater X” Janus, & “Pretty Boy” Pete Davekos for entertaining & supporting our troops.

Anony 12:54 since when do you need to have been in the military to entertain them?? Bob Hope, Jay Leno, Kathy Griffin, Toby Keith, Kid Rock, etc.

It could easily be argued that it is actually better to have civilians do such things.

What an awesome experience for the eaters involved. Congratulations to the three of you and I hope this is just the begining of tours to military bases.
I am sure it was a great break from the trudgery of everyday life for our military men and women assigned to Guantanamo Bay.
Are there any pictures to go along with this story?
    God Bless!

I think sending competitive eaters to entertain troops is a brilliant idea. The Sheas could not have chosen three better representatives to go there. I would bet that soldiers are very much in touch with competitive eating so this probably put alot of smiles on faces.

I served 13 years as an Army soldier and of course, I would love to have gone with them but as Badlands says, “IT’S ALL GOOD.” It is all about the troops. Maybe next time.

    Great job guys and congratulations!
