I agree why do some idiot reporters that can eat maybe 4 or 5 hot dogs have to take part in competing time after time. Not only do they make fools of themselves but afterwards they say something stupid like Oh im never doing this again.. Competing is for real competitiors and not for the media to write some dumb story about their adventures at the table. They would never let a news reporter all of a suddern pick up a bat and step up to the plate in the middle of MLB game or decide to insert themelf in an NBA basketball game . They should put a stop to this nonsense

Well now, the reason is pretty simple here. Competitive eating is not professional baseball, basketball or anything like it. It is entertainment, pure and simple. Media is as media does. It is perfectly fine for anyone to give a try. For so many eaters who compete for the love of the sport, media attention is great. There is no union for “real competitors” and no entry requirements. Be glad anyone gets recognition no matter who they are. It builds fans, period.

Who? = Me.
I am not some reporter that eats 4 or 5 dogs in 10 minutes. I am not the best by any means but MLE wanted someone that was local to do a piece like this and i was available. I am an eater, just a bit humble.
I have done numerous amatuer contests in the past year and i will eat strong from bell to bell.
Why the hate?

It is the shirt in the photo that makes me mad. F them in the A if they do not like the interview.

George Plimpton had appearances in the NFL, MLB, NHL, Boxing, PGA, & more. Mostly in pre-season type games.
He is the biggest reason why reporters want to insert themselves into the action.
It does get tiring hearing the same comments from the compEATing reporters, but it draws attention & that is good.
In a perfect world they aren’t taking the spot of someone who wants to compEAT for real.

I think its genius that Cutter withholds his true identity, it makes him a mystery, kind of like a super hero masked eating crusader.
As for this Jason Scarincio fellow, he hasn’t a chance with the MLE’ers that will show this weekend, and really what’s with his shirt?

I personally think its great to meet all the other eaters even if its through articles like this. Lord knows how many articles I have read about Chestnut, Pat, Koby, and all the others. Not to say I dont enjoy reading those articles too but sometimes its kind of the same anwsers to the same questions (I dont fault the reporters for this because too many of them arent CE fans but were just sent to do an article). I know I have my many unnamed critics on this site ready to blast me for saying I enjoy reading about other “table enders” but thats cool. If you dont like reading these articles you don’t have to click the link, just wait a couple of days and another article asking Joey “how he prepares or what he thinks of Koby” will be out soon enough!

Table enders bring nothing to the sport except single digit numbers. Chest walks the walk

Table enders bring fun, hype, excitment and a willingness to suceed. This is what CE is, sure Joey and them are going to put up huge numbers, but its those “table enders” watching from fourth and fifth place that keep people interested and its the mentalilty of all “table enders” to take the giant down.
