Jimmy Johns sandwich makers vs. eaters in Detroit Saturday
The Detroit River Days music schedule lists the following non-musical event:
Also, sure to draw a crowd on Saturday, June 20 at the Michigan Lottery Stage is the Jimmy John’s Freaky Fast Sandwich and Making Contest at 2 p.m. The contest will feature three of the fastest sandwich makers going head-to-head again three World Class Major League Eaters to see who is faster. Major League Eaters are infamous for gobbling down hot dogs and chicken wings on TV. Jimmy John’s believes they have they fastest sandwich makers around, what better way to prove it?
An email from Craig Reed reports that the three eaters will be Pat Bertoletti, Hall Hunt and Tim Brown.

I think it sounds great. I am always glad to see creative events like this become an annual thing. This year I am rooting for the speed eaters to win! What are the rules? How do the speed eaters win? The obviously can’t eat more sandwiches than the sandwich makers make. Anyone?

It’s 3 eaters vs. 3 sandwich makers. The minute we get our first sandwiches our 10 minutes start. The goal is to eat them faster than they can make them and to not have any leftover sandwiches at the end of ten minutes. It’s not an easy event, we stayed even with the makers last year for 2-3 mintutes and they ran away with it. Hhhmmm…So theoretically if each of the three sandwich makers finishes a sandwich and hands it off to each one of us three competitive eaters with 1 second left on the clock, does that mean the sandwich makers win?
