VegasNews.com reports that Joe LaRue and Johnny Excel are expected to compete in the pickle eating contest held at the Carnegie Deli in The Mirage on May 13.

    This should be an interesting match up. I’m suprised LaRue is making that trip and even more suprised Goose isn’t on the bill… I have a feeling in a 12min pickle contest we might see a reversal from Johnnie X-L

    Johnny is quicker out of the gate and I have a tendency to finish strong, but this is pickles. I’m hoping jaw strength comes into play which should give me an advantage, should be an intresting 5 min

    i don’t think you’ll have a problem with Johnnie to be perfectly honest. Not that Johnnie isn’t a good eater, I just think you’re that much better at this point in time, unless you’ve lost a step.

    wait, this is a 5min contest? If it is, then it might be closer and no reversal from XL… I read incorectly I thought it said it was a 12min contest.

    According to the original flyer, in order to sign up you had to submit a photo. most did this via the facebook for the mirage pickle contest. although maybe there was other ways to sign up since i didn’t see Johnnie or Joe on the facebook wall but i might have missed it. I have no interest in entering but i do want to watch. pickles seem like a specialty that isn’t built for any ordinary glutton.

    jackmax, the only contest i see in the area is actually a chili dog eating contest. prequalifiers to be held may 11th, 18th, 25th. 10 contestants make finals for 28th. actually went down today as there was supposed to be a pre-qualifier but they must have changed it to start next week instead. flyer said dogs are covered in some sort of chili sauce and mustard with a bun made for the contest (whatever that means).

    @cutter I all ready signed up for the hot dog contest I’m an alternate on the 11th &18th. As for the pickle contest I have e-mailed Artie “chowhound” but have not received any thing back.

    If Goose doesn’t find his way in, I think Joe takes this with ease!

    Johnnie is known to fluff his numbers and times, he’s kind of like Scott Bickel in a sense, Johnnie will finish a 5lb challenge in 10 minutes and claim it was 7lbs and did it in 7mins… Not till his YouTube videos are in real time (or at least shows a clock of start and stop time) or until he actually defeats some real competition (Ala Matt Stonie), he’s mearly an emperor in new clothes.

    If Johnnie was in the IFOCE and the rankings were based solely on “TALENT” he’d be ranked somewhere in the 30’s…

    JMHO… give him hell JOE!

    This is an aice event now. (which is probably why my pics were removed from the Carnegie/Mirage facebook site.

    If I understood a previous comment from Goose correctly, he isn’t affiliated w/aice anymore.

    Something about them being mad about wanting to do…some other contest.

    That makes sense then, Johnnie will have a better chance to win SOMETHING with AICE then he ever would with IFOCE (who will not touch him with a 10 foot poll now that he’s doing an AICE event)…

    Thanks for the votes of confidence and I hope to to win as I don’t go to any contest to finish 2nd. I’m not taking Mr. Excel lightly, my sights are on first and the record. For what it’s worth All Pro needs a class eater such as Jonny in the ranks.

    Is this the same Goose that likes to eat against teenagers and seniors…Yeh , he is so full of himself he has to win at all cost..He will shyaway from this contest because there are pro eaters here and his ego wont let him enter

Joe knows aswell as anyone that isn’t a complete moron, that Tom would crush him in any eating contest no matter the food. Its like Sonya compare to Juliet.
