LMFAO! Menchetti pulled a fast one on them. Good for him. The sponsor did not do their homework checking on the entrants amateur status.

I have looked at the facebook page, twitter, website, and instagram of the restaurant. Other than that one tweet, there is no mention of the contest being amateurs only. The only ones who know are those who saw the registration paperwork. Joe may have been entirely innocent.

I paid my entry fee awhile ago. No one mentioned any discussion.of “pros” to me until an hour AFTER the contest. I was unaware of that Twitter post until clicking on it here. I’m rarely on Twitter, often on Facebook. Other eaters knew I was from Ct… I do not consider myself a pro… I understand if others do. I can’t sustain a living from it… I skipped working 2 local events to go to Buffalo.
Long story short, I didn’t pull a fast one.

I agree Joe: you are not a pro. We are small-time eaters who cannot sustain a living from it, unlike Joey, Matt, Takeru, and Molly.

You had to suspect something when they didn’t let Bob compete…

The only eater I knew of that had registered for this event besides me was Dave “The Termite” Wood, because he asked about it on FB and commented that he registered.
Didn’t know Shoudt had signed up til I saw his name on the sign in sheet.
There could have been many reasons why he didn’t show. Traffic, bad credit, not needing a car, (it’s a lease, not ownership) easier or more local contest, etc, etc.
