Joey Chestnut and other unnamed Major League Eaters will be competing in a Pro-Am Soba Eating Contest at Yokosuka Base in Japan on August 6.

    It’s not a spit in Koby’s face at all! American troops want to see the current and 5-time HDB champ, who not only brought the Mustard Yellow Belt back to America, but has retained it five times in succession.

    Whether Koby’s more entertaining or not, the fact is he is no longer the #1-ranked competitive eater in the world.

    And this comes from a staunch Koby supporter and fan, but I’m not naive.

    This event is to entertain American armed forces stationed in Japan, not Japanese. Eaters will all be Americans from those forces, I think. If Kobayashi were still number one, I really wonder whether or not they would send him. I kind of doubt it. Would not make sense.

    Kobi clowed Joey Chestsnut with his eating stunt on the 4th. My guess is Joey does not want to see him ever again. What a coward/pussy to face someone who he knows would clown and beat him soo easy. lol A threat to his fake # 1 ranking. lol Joey loves Money more than life itself, lol Kobi does not and thats why he is the Number one eater in the history of mankind….

    Everyone with negatives about either Joey or Kobayashi or who gets to go and who does not is completely missing the point. Eaters sent to entertain the troops are given a huge opportunity to bring some fun to those who, no matter how you feel about various military things, are sacrificing on behalf of all Americans. This is one of the best and most unselfish things MLE is doing, partnering with the organizers. This is not about an appearance fee or bringing money to sponsors and MLE. I would bet they make no money whatsoever from this. Hopefully MLE pays for the privilege of sending their eaters and chooses those who can make the time commitment and do the best job of entertaining and interacting with the troops and their families and guests.
