Joey Chestnut to compete in P’Zone contest
The splash page for ifoce.com announces that Joey Chestnut will compete in the P’Zone contest to be held in New York City on July 10. I am not sure if this means that Joey & Kobayashi will compete in that event or if Kobayashi has withdrawn.

Interesting. To the winner goes the spoils.
It seems to soon to have another Joey/Koby match-up. Could Koby’s ego take two losses in one week?

If I were to put money on it, I’d say that it’s only Joey, or they would have mentioned both names on the splash page. Also, they say “Champion Chestnut.”
I think Mega Munch hit the nail on the head. Could Koby’s ego take 2 losses in one week? I don’t think so. He can’t even handle one loss.

I saw Kobe after the contest. He seemed to handle it very well. No complaints, excuses, etc. He went to the after after party & hung out for awhile, & seemed to have a good time. I don’t think its fair to say “he can’t handle one loss” Plus this Pizzaslut thing is more of an exhibition any way.

Koby is probably happy he won’t be competing, so that he can rest his mouth. It is only an exhibition anyway, and not worth Koby’s trouble.

Listen to Gentlemen Joe. He was there and he saw what I have been trying to say about Koby. The guy took the lost well. Of course he is competitive, but he didn’t pout or make a scene. He tried his best, lost and said he would come back stronger. All of you people have been dying to see Koby lose so bad, now that you have you are painting him to be a “villian.” Stop villifying the guy. He didn’t do anything to encourage all the Koby bashing of him being a poor sport. Joey won. Direct your attention to Joey’s accomplishments and stop bashing other eaters.

That good point was very well put Jake. Too often people wait in ambush to identify with and single out a less than perfect exhibition by someone they just want to point fingers at, just to be able to be “right” about a given situation. That’s true of Americans more than most any other group of people that I know of (except terorists, perhaps) and that’s very sad.
It seems that when you’re as great as Koby has been for so long, some people want to take shots at you. I’ve never heard about him talking smack. He simply chows down in a big, big way at the competitive eating table. Thank Goodness for people like yourself, Crazy Legs, Rona, and Sonya, who can see through the smoke.
