The reconciliation does not appear to have succeeded. Kobayashi on June 29:

“George Shea is nastier in real life than even movie shows clearly.”

Is MLE promoting this movie or is it a project they don’t want to be associated with ?

MLE likely is not pleased with the movie as George is depicted as an uncaring villain trying so hard to be witty and not succeeding. They do not have to promote it but they cannot complain publicly since Joey and Kobayashi are the main figures with some comments from other eaters. Therefore, they gave permission.

As i tune into ESPNi see the thumbnail preview for the documentary on a regular basis which means that its gaining worldwide exposure which is far from that Hungry crap produced by Joe Ruzer which had a few runs in east village theatre in NYC 5yrs ago and eventually made its way to HULU . and went nowhere .

OJ, filming George Shea going off on a childish tirade in his midtown office would have been priceless One could pic him with the straw hat on stomping his feet on the ground ” i want this to STOP and i want it to STOP right now !

a downgrade from ESPN to ESPN 2 coverage of the Nathans contest is a pretty signifigant downgrade , Not as bad as ESPN 3 which means your not in demand anymore but its still not as good as ESPN

ESPN’s acquisition of Wimbledon is responsible for the move to ESPN2. It appeared that there would be wall to wall tennis on ESPN and ESPN2 during Wimbledon, blocking Nathan’s coverage, but the decline in tennis’ popularity has freed up ESPN2. One year there was an attempt to move the contest to 3pm to avoid Wimbledon, but the permits were not allowed.

By next year the contest will be moved to ESPN 3 because the iinterest has declined drastically since Kobe left
