Joey, Pat, Chip, Dr. Big Time at Houston Matzoh Balls

The Houston Chronicle has a preview of Sunday’s World Championship Matzoh Ball Eating Contest. The contest will probably have the best field since the Krystal Square Off finals despite a relatively modest purse of $1,500. Joey Chestnut and Pat Bertoletti are expected along with Chip Simpson, Juris “Dr. Big Time” Shibayama and Dave “SykoBozo” Cagle. Nathan Biller has also said he will compete.

Pat is going there to stake his claim that he is the new Number 1. He’s not in it for the money.

I think that in most foods, Pat is a “smidgin” better than Joey, especially in nonbreaded / nondunking foods. Matzoh Balls do not favor Pat, and regardless of how tall Pat’s slick black Mohawk “do” makes him feel 🙂 , it will be hellaciously tough for him to bring Joey down to earth in this contest.

But he will. Pat over Joey by two-and-a-half balls.

Its nice that the five IFOCE table enders you mentioned are thoughtful enough to show up just so Joey and Pat don’t have to eat by themselves. After those two it gets really boring.

Hooray for Table Enders!!!…and Anonymous,we were only that thoughtful cause your Mom was busy this weekend, now go put your jammies on and get ready for bed and maybe she might double your allowance this week.I for one am looking foward to see who will win Joey and Pat’s tiebreaker, they are 6-6 right now against eachother i think…..Hey Nathan i have a plan for the Manson show,i will e-mail you…and sorry Philly Guy only one hook up per contest, hehe JK….everyone except Anonymous Have A Nice Day 🙂

Disregard such stupid comments SyKo. You’re AT the table, and will certainly move closer to the middle in time. Being at the top is often short-lived. Besides, nothing is for certain. (They’s be smart not to take Chip Simpson for granted.)

    Pat is on a roll,
But Joey will have a ball (or two, just more than Pat)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Eater comes in third
Dr. Bigtime will have the most-stained shirt

Is there broth involved or just matzoh balls? I would think they could get very hard to eat outside a soup context.

Oh Table Enders and Lords of the Balls Alike: Beware and be warned.
Hope and Pray that My Juliet doesn’t grace the Matzah Ball Table with her presence.
For all shalt receive a royal thrashing, much like she dealt out unto ye in Cranberry Sauce in the year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Seven.
Only if ye bow down and pray with all your might, and by Her goodness,
May ye all be spared from the wrath of ye Juliet Lee.
In other words she’s hungrier than hell and may show just to kick it up. None are greater than she that rhymes with flee, because that’s what you all will be doing when she that is queen dominates you.

i wish she would give me a royal thrashing shes hot, hehe……JK….Rhonda ,thanks for the nice words, but i love to talk smack,so i dont mind…..Liz,im not sure if they will be in broth or not, they sell just Matzah Balls 1 for a dollar, and it only has a little bit of broth, but they should be very fresh and a little wet and warm, since the contest is at the resturant

thanks US MALE,I at least plan on dressing funnier than usual, haha…Nate Biller and I went to the deli were we are eating matzah balls today, and on the menu they have a eating challenge on there menu its called THE ZELLAGABETSKY (The Sandwich That’s Bigger Than Its Name) its a 7 1/2 pound,8 Decker on Special Cut Rye,Corned Beef,Pastrami,Turkey,Roast Beef,Tongue & Swiss Cheese w/ Cloe Slaw,Russian Dressing and Sweet Red Pepper,if you finish it you get a free Piece of cheesecake,so we decided to try it,shit it was a big sandwhich,so big, they paraded the sandwhiches around the deli before they brought it to the table and then they were taking pictures of us,so we were ready, only 1 person has finished it before…needless to say Nate started off very strong, anyway he finished 1 half and about 3/4 quarters of the whole thing,i ate 1 half and had to stop, anyway it was fun hangin with Nat and eating, even though both of us were ready to burst….i found out there is some Giant Cannoli challenge in town too,i think i might try that in about 2 weeks….anyway matzah balls should be fun…whats your next event going to be Corn??? anyway i gotta get my eatin clothes ready, lol cya later,Have A Nice Day 🙂

Skybozo any beef challenge that is over 3 or 4lbs becomes a chore for the average competitive eater .Most mid ranked eaters are not ready nor are they able to consume food of that magnitude. Eater X , Pat , Joey Sonya Humble Bob and eaters ranked in the top 8 will more than likely be able to finish the job

yes i agree i wasnt ready, but is was fun anyway and Nathan did a great job,it was just for fun and not really speed,i suck at that too,HAHA….i know that Sonya ate the Big Daddy Burger in Las Vegas in 27 or 29 minutes and thats a 9lb Burger…it makes me wonder how she would have done with that 18lb Burger in Canada, thats 1 big ass burger, just looking at it gets me full….gotta go watch UFC and then work on my US Male costume, just kidding dave….but i might have a surprise for you at the contest, shhhhhhh secret hahahahaha,Have A Nice Day 🙂

Sky you are probobly a very good eater im just saying that to tacke a 6 or 7 lb monster is quite a task for anyone just coming into competitive eating. There are exceptions as we have seen in the past. Anyone that can tackle a 6 to 7 lb sandwich will easily eat 20 or possibly 30 hot dogs and buns. There are some that say drinking a gallon water in two or 3 min will determine whether or not you can put up big numbers at a contest but water and meat are just not the same.

You’re right Syko. I have seen an earthworm eat quicker than you. I love Matzah ball soup so this would have been perfect had it been in New York. Great try anyhow, at least you had fun.
