The Buffalo News has an article about today's kickoff ceremony for the Buffalo Wing Festival reporting that Joey Chestnut and Sonya Thomas are expected to compete in the chicken wing eating contest.

    Can i just ask why everyone on this site seems to have a vendetta with eaters being flown around?
    It’s the sponcers money, let them do as they please. The reason why people who dont get flown around and have to pay don’t get the opportunity is simply because in some shape or form they havn’t earned it yet.
    I havn’t been payed to go anywhere (aside nathans) and even though ive been able to put up decent numbers, probably have gotten alot less publisity then alot of people who havn’t put up the numbers. I credit that to marketability and carisma, both which i have none.

    Stonie -a lot of ppl have jealously issues here or are just butt holes, (no offense to butt holes) anyway don’t get to caught up here on this site or any other site for that matter, as far as you not having marketability or charisma, your very wrong, your 18, just starting out and so far the only people that you haven’t beat is Joey, Kobi, Pat and Tim i believe, id say your doing about 95% better than most have done in such a short while on the circuit, you just keep doing what you do, and your just gonna get better and better, have fun 1st and worry about everything else 2nd, believe me the top 10 know you can eat now if they didn’t before, H.A.N.D 🙂

    Matt, don’t cut yourself short; but it is most refreshing that you are both honest and modest—-two of the most desirable qualities any talented person can have.

    Soon your displays of talent will ensure that you will be one of those people who occasionally get “flown out.”

    Those who resent it have nothing better to do with their time and should be ignored altogether. If they spent as much time undertaking constructive endeavors as they do looking for things to express their dismay about they wouldn’t be making such comments.

    Don’t let your sails get caught in their winds of negativity.

    Sonya gets flown out she also receives an appearance fee and free hotel because she is the champ Drew Cerza has covered hotel expenses for performers like Larue and Booker
