Ken Hoffman has a column for the Houston Chronicle about Pat Bertoletti's attempt to regain his gyro eating title and record at the Niko Niko's World Gyro Eating Championship at the Houston Greek Fest Sunday. Adrian Morgan and Matt Stonie are also expected to compete, but Joey Chestnut will not defend his title.

    I think it’ll be interesting. Pat is really good at Gyros between 20-2, always losing out to Joey by .5-1 (not a very large Margin) Matt is really gonna have to bring it to beat him in this event

    Pat – 20.5
    Matt – 19
    Adrian – 17.5

    Im with you Rhonda.With Pat doing chesse steaks it might still sit heavy and stay with him.This gives Matt a great chance to get another one over Pat.My guess is Matt with 22the Pat 21doing Adrian 19.

    It just seems to me that Pat has struggled a bit—-by Pat standards—-as of late, whereas Matt is just now beginning to hit his beast (a play on “best”) stride. By the end of the year Matt will have finished ahead of Pat more than just a couple of times in 2012.

    BUMMED!!! had to drop out of this cuz (well not that it mattered, lol), I had to go to NOLA last minute (so I’m missing Gyro’s and I’m in NOLA to early for Oysters too), I was looking forward to hanging out with everyone and meeting Matt, Adrian and watching Pat’s crazy antics afterwards, lol – well good luck to everyone that enter’s, it’s a fun event

    I appreciate the good words & time taken out for some of these comments, but please don’t expect to much from me today. Past couple days havn’t been in my favor and my performance will lack, but I’m definitly going to do my best even if it means honey tea and cough drops for the next week or two. I’m not using this as an excuse, everyone has their down days, just don’t expect anything great.

    Is water (only) training really what you do? I would think that adding something to the water to replace electrolytes would be a good idea. In any case, cheering for you. Hopefully your sore throat and not being in top shape will be balanced out by Bertoletti having done a back to back contest.

    Chloraseptic!!! Get it NOW!!! Because if my Graves Disease, I can never take OTC remedies so hafta suffer thru all ailments however Chloraseptic is the one thing I can use & its AWESOME!
