I have several questions I’d like to ask him, two of which would be too embarrasing to list publicly, so I won’t bother.

Seems a little sad to me, not much of a great presentation, I really wish that he had better advice about how to get his talents recognized in a better way. Wingbowl can only continue this seeming downfall. Let’s think about what he would be doing if he were still in MLE. He surely would be going to Asian countries to eat wontons, and for him, that would have been perfect and terrific.

Missed opportunities, confusion, but perhaps he is happier or at least happy in what he is doing. It does not matter what we think, what he thinks and his satisfaction is what counts most. Maybe he is quite happy living in New York and the US, and the rest is not that important to him. If he felt so held prisoner or hostage by his MLE contract, then I wish him only the best and that he will achieve his goals. It takes a long time to learn English, he is on his way. I would wish him the best regardless because I think he is completely on a par with the few top eaters of the world. Maybe it is others loss that he left MLE but not his. Koby and Joey are the two top with Bertoletti following closely along with Shoudt and Janus. Of course Sonya is the top female and sometimes beats the top MLE.

Hmm, I totally agree that Koby has to be content with himself and I hope he is—-doesn’t matter what we think one bit. We all voice opinions based on what we perceive, but quite often we do so based on incomplete information. I try to factor in that realization, so that I don’t sound like more of a dummy than I oftentimes do, I’m sure.

I’m saddened by Koby’s participation in far lesser known competitive eating events; that’s the equivalent of somebody as well known as Taylor Swift playing for crowds at a local mall.

I’m also disappointed in his private challenges of recent MLE records using different standards. I thought he was above that. It appears that he’s becoming a victim of his own desperate need for attention, which he has apparently placed above both MLE (which I can partially understand) and Sonya who probably still has very high regard for Koby. I strongly doubt she would go after him or one of his records using self-imposed rules if the roles were reversed.

I still think Koby and Joey are near equals, both of whom are a notch better than Bertoletti (and he’s fantastic!), who is clearly better than Tim, Bob, Matt, and Sonya. I think you can put a blanket over the talents of the latter four, which says a lot for Sonya, the lone woman of the bunch. There’s a clear break to the next echelon of a half dozen or so eaters. At least that’s how I see it.

Only the Good Lord knows what’s in store for Koby in 2012. I am still pulling for him, but my respect meter for Koby is no longer “pegged out” as it once was.

Hmm with two m’s or 3 , i agree with you . It is very sad that he never got his talents recognized in a better way. And Rhonda yes he has become a victim of his own desperate need of attention. Reminds you of someone with the initials BS?

The only event that is known in mle, is Coney Island.

It can be argued that Wing Bowl is bigger than Coney. Better Prizes, near sold out or sold out PAID crowd on a FRIDAY morning when most of the world is working.

Coney does have espn & is the most well known contest, largely because of Kobi. But it is FREE & held at a time that nearly the whole country has off.

I doubt Kobi is suffering for cash from leaving mle, & even if he is, freedom (particularly from those guys) is worth it. I speak from experience. 🙂

Taylor Swift comparison is more like doing the Grammy’s & selling out an arena in…Osh Kosh. Gimme the $ from Osh Kosh.

Wow Evans is much like bb in the post above “I” at least 13 times. Oshkosh is one word.

anon 10:58 i think you might be on to something. Can both possibly be one and the same?

I still may. & probably would have if they had more than the 1st automatic qualifier, like last yr.

I realize that a half hour eating anything is not my strongest suit. If there were substantial prizes thru 5th, i’d be in. I do not want to train and/or waste my time going to Philly 2 or 3 times to come in 2nd thru 5th. I stopped eating for awhile in 2nd round last year bcuz of the lack of prizes beyond 1st.

There is a good possibility i’ll “work” Wing Bowl, &/or be in someone’s entourage.

What do you want me to say, Anon? If you’re that bored to where you’re counting words, I hope … dang, I mean, may … 2012 opens additional doors of opportunity for you.

Joe, Koby probably wishes he were selling out an arena in Oshkosh.

Yeah Joe, why didn’t you try to qualify for Wing Bowl this year? After all, the self-proclaimed quickest wing eater on the planet should surely be able to stretch out that demon speed over the duration of WB.

Thanks for the answer Joe. There was a time lag between your last post and mine, which didn’t enable me to see your 1130.

Oh, and I was sort of being a smart ass about your speed, but I’m sure you know that. Fact is, in a 5-minute or less event you are one of the best, to include MLE and the APE, as well as Dale’s vaunted WLOCE.
