It’s no coincidence that many of the best competitive eaters are extremely intelligent. That’s another reason that it’s a sport, which requires strategy. This is most pronounced in the longer contests. Anybody can eat as fast as they can for a few minutes, but it takes an intelligent eater to excel in the long(er) events. Those (longer) events are not simply about capacity, as some might think.
