Kobayashi post-Nathan’s statement

Kobayashi has a bilingual blog entry about his second place finish in Wednesday’s Nathan’s finals:

I believe that the satisfaction one feels in competition is not purely derived from a result of victory or defeat. I can say that I am happy to have challenged a seventh consecutive win. From today on I will focus on treating my condition without getting too anxious. And I will definitely go for the next world record. Even if the pressure of it all crushes me.

This guy BROUGHT IT big time on wednesday. Probably only a handful of you understand what he had to do over the last 6 years to bring CE to this level, I certainly dont. Blessings to you Koby & Joey. (ok Pat, you too)

Hats off to all of you at the table, I hope you reached a number that you can sleep with.

Thankyou EVERYONE at IFOCE for giving us such a great event to aspire to attend

I think it’s absolutely pathetic this guy is still claiming an injury….give me a break!

He raised the bar on CE. He was the best in the sport for 6 years, BUT HE PUKED DURING AND AT THE END OF THE CONTEST AND THAT IS A DISQUALIFICATION, and the judges trivialized the sport by not calling him on it.

Koby was good playing head games by claiming emotional and physical ailments. Not giving Koby the DQ for blatant reversal was considered to be the more political correct ruling even if it was not fair to the other eaters and the millions of fans.

The CE has joined the world of PC. What’s next? Raise your pinky when you drink your water?

I feel they made the wrong call Koby beat Joey they just did what they had to in order for Joey to win. They both had 65 when the contest ended. I do not think Joey will ever beat Koby again. He better soak this up cause it’s only going to happen once. Wake up and snort some coffee. Koby is the man…

Just out of curiosity how many of Koby’s female fans do you think actually like him for his competitive eating skills and not his looks ?

Steak, really though, besides eating alot of food, what DID he do to bring CE to where it is now? I think the Sheas, even though they may have had greedy intentions, are the ones that did the most for the sport over the years, and no one ever congratulates them for what they accomplished. I always voice my disagreements with them, but I still know who really should get credit. (but it would boost their ego so I remain quiet)

Nate, that is some view you got there. Those that got sprayed would probably disagree with you though. How close were you to the stage?

Did you watch the contest? If so, you must’ve seen something I didn’t or didn’t see something I did see. Open your eyes and your mind. I liked Koby, but lost respect for him due to his actions. Talk is cheap. Don’t make too may predictions. They may not come to fruition.
