    Yes, Julie Di Caro, “Pretty Pathetic.” In more ways than one. You too can hire Takeru Kabayashi to eat at your son’s or daughter’s birthday party. If you would like to rent out Kobi’s dignity for birthdays, weddings, bachelor parties, door greeter, or any other event that is way below that of a world champion, just call 1-800-EAT-CRAP.

    In a word, no, because the first three categories do not have that kind of money and are not linked to sponsorship. Stretching things bigtime GJoe. Obviously, for the last category, espn is their client. Of course they are doing publicity for themselves and for ESPN, they got the dough for it.

    @Joe, I think the key concept here is how much money it is required to bait the eater in + how often they do it. Kobyashi has been doing this consistantly for the past 1+ now, and I would only have to assume for alot less money then those who you listed. Anyone can be bought by money, even to make a fool of themselves or play a puppet, but the dignity lies in how much one requires to jump over that threshold.

    Who we kidding, Crazylegs threshold is a couple of beers. Its does not appear to be for publicity, it looked like an in house demo, kinda like when they’ve had Huey Lewis/Hootie do a show. They should have been paid.

    Even if Kobi is making substantially less than he was in MLE, HE IS FREE TO CHOOSE. He is apparently making a living, IN NYC, from eating. I have an idea of the range he gets. It may not be what it was, but its still substantial.

    Joe, you gotta get your head out of your Anti-MLE butt and look at things face value. I value your opinion only to the point where the MLE belittling starts. Truth is you have no true knowledge of Kobi’s personal income from competitive eating, for all we know his girlfriend might be the breadwinner.

    I respect Kobi, his decision, and his desire to be free on his own will, but when the whole ‘anything you can do i can do better’ vendetta comes in, in regards to him vs MLE, I have to shake my head.
