So your saying no one should criticize anyone unless they can perform better? Then all sportcasters, as well as 99% of all constructive critics, should go do cardio.

Cardio? Lets see what Pete looks like 15 to 20yrs from now when his metabolism is out of whack? Oh year its easy to say he will be working out like a madman so the chances of him getting fat are relatively slim. Guess what ? Father time takes care of that. The flab will be mounting. as the years roll by. Posedown Ha enjoy it while you can it wont last long

I cannot believe all the jealousy! Pete must be doing okay!

Yes there is jealousy because certain individuals are making money and others are not. How would you feel if you were a nobody on stage or a sucker in the crowd shelling out his or her hard earned cash and getting nothing in return

Anon 6:37 – even when you get older, you can still stay fit with hard work, proper diet and will power, you must have just let yourself go and now hate anyone that did take care of themselves, fat and lazy is not a good combo.

Anon 7:51 – you sound like someone that tried it as a pro eater but wasnt very good, pro football players make money playing football, but im not all upset, when I’m at a game watching them, bitching about how much their getting paid, I’m usually wishing I had their bank accounts.

    I agree with Anon 8:11

Wow, Jamie is even better than I though, and that’s saying a bunch! Congratulations to him!

As much as I revere Koby—-always have—-given the influx of increasingly omnitalented new eaters (like Jamie and Matt), even as an independent, Koby’s “undefeated” days are numbered. I think that once Koby starts sensing that, he’ll retire from active competition, and that’s as it should be. (I see him retiring some time in 2013.)

People should be remembered for what they were at the top of their game. Sticking around too long tarnishes those memories, and I don’t want to see that happen to Koby.

He doesn’t have to be active to market CE or related products. Look at Michael Jordan, Brett Favre, Troy Aikman, Cal Ripken, Billie Jean King, and many others. And Koby has been even more dominant in CE than either of those were to their respective sports.

Stupid comment Rhonda, Kobi wasn’t even trying. Kobi defeated Jamie that way because he was toying with just like a cat does with a mouse before he kills it. Ha

OJ, in the “Rake and Herald” article, Jaime credits himself with 35 slices. Maybe you could correct your story and do the same. We deserve real totals not inaccurate ones so that we can put things in perspective.

Hey, Daddio, what the “El” are you talking about? I hope you’re right, but since I don’t know you, I take your words with a few hundred grains of salt.

I stand by my comment. It will take more than your words to lend creedence to the stupidity of anyone’s observations.

Assuming the Toronto Star is correct (and that could be a bit of a stretch),unless Steph either marries a man who makes pretty good money, or unless she already is fairly well heeled, winnings from CE will not cut it.

A financial planner being well heeled? That sounds pretty far fetched to me.

It is interesting that Stephanie has been bypassing home-region contests where she could earn more money. She went to Canada instead of defend her title in the Tuscon Sonoran dog contest which awarded $500 yesterday and did the A Taste of Hamburg-er in Pennsylvania on Sept 1 instead of a pizza contest in Albuquerque with a $1,000 first prize.

    We’ve updated our report: http://www.therakeandherald.tv/society/societystory.php?id=173

Apologies in advance for the guess work. The only thing everyone seems to agree on is that Kobi ate 40 slices and won. Sadly our view of the eating was obscured by the Atlantic Ocean and a fair chunk of land.

The Star’s listing of Jamie eating 34 slices is probably a typo as a caption in the paper’s photo gallery also credits him with eating 35 slices.

  29. No. 2 Eater? said

    September 17, 2012 @ 2:16 pm

Stephanie, as the saying goes, don’t quit your day job. Number two woman eater in the world? Meredith
Boxberger ate more slices (21) than Stephanie, and she’s not even in the top ten MLE. Making, false, untruths, resume padding claims hurts all competitive eating credibility. I mean what’s someone new to competitive eating supposed to think? You mean the self claimed number two woman eater in the world can only get fifth place by eating 19 slices of pizza and losing to Jesse Kankula? It’s demeaning to Sonya Thomas and Juliet Lee to make any comparisons after that embarrassing effort by Stephanie.

  30. anonymous said

    September 17, 2012 @ 2:26 pm

Except for Jamie Pete and Kobayashi it is a second rate side show. No comparison to MLE contest whatsoever

    September 17, 2012 @ 3:04 pm

Steph never claimed to be number 2. That was all pie. She ate 19 on a bad day. Boxberger also ate 21 slices in the rain. Pre-dunked pizzas make a huge difference. Steph did 28.5 HDBs and Boxberger did 21.5.
