Liz reviews Horsemen of the Esophagus
Liz of Urban Honking received a copy of “Horsemen of the Esophagus” several weeks before its official release date after meeting with author Jason Fagone. She has posted a review of the book on her blog. The main figures in the book are Coondog O’Karma and Bill “El Wingador” Simmons. IFOCE eaters were discouraged from being interviewed by their organization. IFOCE also commissioned the publication of Ryan Nerz’s book “Eat This Book” so that is why two competitive eating books are being released next month.
Correction 3/28 4:21 PM: Liz met with the editor of the book and not the author.

Fangone got 100 grand upfront .He has no interest in competitive eating. Do you see him at any of the contests anymore?. Took the money and ran. What amazed me is that at the beginning everyone was told to stay away from him like a plague but when word got out that Janus gave him an interview then slowly most of the IFOCE followed suit. Doesnt surprise me that Kobe didn’t tell him much . Some of the eaters told me kobe told them he trains with cabbage and other foods but he could be getting a big laugh out of this with the eaters thinking they got this big ancient secret when in reality he could be training with foods he wont tell you about. The “main figures” that Fangone features in his book are of no interest to me. If i ever decide to read the book and those names come up i would skip those pages in a heartbeat.
