update May 31 Sun Sentinel has a video
update “Furious” Pete Czerwinski’s facebook reports that he won $2,500 at the watermelon eating contest by eating 34 slices in 3 minutes. Joe Menchetti ate 23 slices and Dale Boone ate 21. 2nd (27 slices) and 3rd (26 slices) were not named, and Pete says they did not follow the rules.
The Mardi Gras Casino twitter should be announcing results of the watermelon eating contest soon.

Let me guess? Dale Boone didn’t follow the rules? But it doesn’t matter. No matter how much Boone cheats or breaks the rules, his organization makes him the “World Champion” (let me laugh very hard now), by default. Boone is such a loser. I invite everyone to do what Boone did. To create a “competitive eating organization”, and then make one of the rules of the organization that the founder is ALWAYS the “World Champion”, even if he/she NEVER wins.

To be accurate, Boone has not been defeated in wloce events. He’s won his wloce events.
He has lost many times in the past year or two since he formed his wloce but no losses in wloce events. Even the challenge at Vito’s where he threw up a couple of times was not a wloce event.

Boone did not cheat, nor did any Pro. The Judging was just off. The rules were stated before each round (6 at a time, 85 contestants) that the flesh must be eaten to the white part of the melon, however many eaters including 2nd and 3rd left an inch of flesh in every watermelon piece and yet they were still counted.
