Congrats Matt!! Lol I bet that contest was real fun to watch with the winner in a different area. You would think that somebody would have been smart enough to think about that beforehand…

I thought the Toad would put up Chestnut like numbers. What happened? Anyway, at least he qualified.

Matt is awesome to watch in person. The sight of this unimposing kid all alone at a table and then the contest starts and he just owns it. The crowd did not know what to expect, but they were in awe. He is a nice guy and really capable eater and deserves the attention he got.
Mia did really well, It was good to see her deliver an honest number and not just go out there and eat a couple and then stand there. She was def trying and that is always fun to watch.
    Great contest today.

What happened to Matt? I thought he would be challenging Chestnut this year. Shit! I can eat 42 hot dogs. What a let down!

Another also ran. Matt should stick to being independent. He has gone as far as he will go in major league eating.

So expected to see such a troublemaker just having to downplay Matt’s amazing achievement. Matt Stonie, still under 21 and just getting started, and how many did Joey Chestnut eat in the beginning and how many years, as in years, did it take for him to win Nathans and beat Kobayashi? 11:02 pm represents the worst of commenters on here, no wonder people stay away, even fans would get the wrong idea about how difficult it is to achieve these numbers.

Thanks 8:39, nice article and nice to see people including Wild Bill get a mention. You put in your time and hope for the best, this was the best for all. I suppose the media is used to stupid comments, they sometimes make them but usually not in the spirit of plain mean and offensive which one finds here often. Let’s keep it going, eyes will be on Matt and Mia, very cool! And for everyone who tried to get to Nathans but failed, cheers to you too!

When are they going to implement the “Eaters’ Choice” spot at the Finals table? The eaters are polled about who should get the final spot. That’ll give CE veterans like Wild Bill and Steakbellie a spot at the table. They, among others, are two who deserve a spot after all the years they’ve devoted to the sport.

They should have a contest pitting husband and wife teams against each other. I think that would be fun. Matt did outstanding. I wonderwhat his max is. Congratulations to Mia.

I was away from the computer for the weekend and finally got caught up on my CE fix. Looked like Boston was a fun time. I was really surprised how smooth and animated Mia was during the interview. Its always good for CE to have new blood and entertaining people hit the media outlets. Good luck to both Matt and Mia!!!
