Wowee…..if I “understand” the photo correctly, Matt, you have the body of a Kobayashi or a Sonya. Looking forward to your future in competitive eating.

um…. is doing indepented contests like “anti- IFOCE”?
as far as i was concerned, the rule only applies once you IN the IFOCE and not if your possible looking at joining…

If theres some unwritten rule of the IFOCE that you need to abstane from any sort of Indepent contests to even be considered, please let me know.

Im not saying im 100% looking at IFOCE, but i thought i would be able to do what i normally, contest and challenge-wise (probley excluding alot of home-related stuff) and from that bulid something I’d possibly use for the IFOCE to consider

Again, I didn’t/don’t think i needed/need to avoid EVERYTHING indepent to show i wanna start doing IFOCE stuff, geez

Stonie is on a waitlist, is the man supposed to not do anything until he is offered a contract? this is like a guy playing in the canadian football league or independent football league while NFL teams overlook him. Don’t let the naysayers get you down, if they were honest they will probably tell you the real reason for all the grief is that you are worth making a fuss about. You are a complete wildcard, you could knock off the best eaters on any given day, at least from what i have seen. You are very young man and have a fun life ahead of you. Have fun doing whatever contests you can do. Although i don’t think that the IFOCE really cares what you are doing right now. I don’t even know how many of the top 50 even have a current contract. Maybe the contracts are reserved for the face men and women of the IFOCE. I didn’t even know there was a contract until i talked to some fo the competitors. I think MLE wants to make sure their contestants are safe, which means that contests are supervised by doctors or EMT’s. Don’t sweat the comments little guy. The kid wants to have fun and entertain others with his eating talents. Check out youtube, there are numerous unsanctioned contests or challenges involving eaters that are involved in MLE. Lets assume they don’t have a contract, so what is the difference between them and stonie? (i mean besides the fact that stonie would eat their lunch literally).

Mega: Just a little advice if you are thinking about joining the IFOCE and any other indies should who also consider giving it a shot at the pros in MLE. Be mindful of what challenges you do even as an indy. Remember, if you go out and eat a hamburger, hot dog, taco, or whatever at some eatery, IFOCE’s bread and butter is product association with their contests and competitors. So try to avoid a food product that IFOCE may already have a contract with. The most obvious example is don’t do a hot dog contest if it can get out that the dogs are Oscar Myer. Just something to think about.

The IFOCE has enough material on YouTube and other media channels to gauge Matt’s considerable talent. They know he’s legit. I don’t think they will invite him on their stage unless they can get an assurance that he will give up his independent acts.

Without exaggerating, I believe that Matt could demolish several IFOCE names in a sanctioned contest. They have absolutely no interest in letting Matt come onstage, discredit their eaters, and then just walk away.

Does IFOCE need Matt more than Matt needs them? That’s what must be answered.

The issue is that IFOCE has the leverage as an organization to exclude guys like Matt, Excel, and others. Matt has more accomplishments and exposure than many names on the IFOCE roster. Why would they just take a risk on him? It’s not like Joey Chestnut or Eater X is producing home challenge vids.

I won’t name names, but I witnessed firsthand the exclusion of an independent eater from an IFOCE contest because he refused to take part in any exclusivity agreement. And that guy doesn’t even have half the exposure that Matt does.

It’s exactly like Cutter says: Matt is a wildcard.
