    This should be interesting. US Male did 30 in 2:48 Kobe did 14 in 1 minute and Conti ate 25 in 5 minutes to qualify for wingbowl in 2006

    Stonie has a youtube vid of him doing 37 in a minute. There’s no mention if dunking will be allowed or not.     Danger of choking on bread is very well known. Choking is always a possibility with speed eating but with buns and twinkies etc. liquid is important. Only way to get big numbers with those things is with dunking. Dunking/drowning in liquid/hard to do those things carefully. It’s speed eating.

    as long as you can drink something to get the twinkie down, thats all that matters. If they did not allow any beverage , then the contest would not be worth competing in . I can understand why they dont want dunking because once the cake dissolves in the liquid it makes it very difficult to judge

    @9:36, that’s not all that matters. If you’re choking on a dry twinkie, and your pour water on the little part of it that’s poking out of your throat, good luck. The water isn’t going to soften the part of the twinkie that’s choking you and isn’t exposed. DUNKING SOFTENS THE WHOLE PIECE OF BREAD so that it breaks apart the moment your tongue and teeth press down on it. Dunking DISABLES the twinkie from being able to choke you.

    1:55 gives good details. A student death from choking on bread in Japan stopped all speed eating contest programs. Think they never really recovered from that.

    1:55, actually, dunked foods can still cause choking. Choking is more an eater issue, rather than a food issue.

    Even wet the Twinkies can still choke you if over stuffing occurs, still it’s the only way in a speed eating contest. Maybe a 3 second max dunk time could be allotted?

    Just make it so that you can’t dunk or touch the Twinkies before it starts. Afterwards if you want to waste excessive time soaking your Twinkies good luck. They might be easier for you to eat but the time you waste will make it so you never put up good numbers. All you have time for anyway is a quick dunk. It’s really not that complicated.

    What’s so difficult here? Dunking is NOT allowed in this event. If you don’t like it, don’t enter this contest. Most of the people commenting here probably aren’t even competing. Why are you obsessing over the rules?
