Nathan’s quarterly earnings almost double

Newsday reports that Nathan’s quarterly earnings increased almost 100% between 2006 and 2007:

Westbury-based Nathan’s, which started as a nickel hot-dog stand in Coney Island in 1916, said it earned $1.2 million in its fiscal fourth quarter, which ended March 25, compared with earnings of $630,000 in the same period a year ago.

The company said sales in the quarter were $9.8 million, up from $8.7 million in the year-ago period.

    Is there any ranked eater that will be at the pigs feet eating contest this saturday? With 2 Nathan’s qualifiers and the Shoofly Pie contest all on the same day, I just can’t imagine any ranked eater choosing to do this event. Maybe some of the bottom 50 (lesser known) eaters will eater this event on the down low to get their first MLE title. There are plenty of ranked eaters that haven’t won a competition yet, but this one is going to require a cast iron stomach. This event could mark the rare “amateur” winner in a IFOCE event. Thoughts…

    Pigs feet are awesome. I wish I was able to go to this event. Pickled Pigs feet are very tender and should go down really well. Technique as well as capacity would come into play. The eaters will have to contend with the large bones and knuckles involved and still strip the meat well but it should go pretty fast I fully expect the winner to eat 8lbs.

    Yes Bubba, but are you not going to that event because you are competing in one of the 3 other events that saturday or because you just can’t go to any competitions this weekend? The point being made I think is that of the 4 events this weekend pigs feet has to be the last choice (after Shoofly and Nathans). Making it so that the only people possibley going to be the people that could get into the other events or people who live in the NY/NJ area…

    I think we can expect to see Eater X and/or Crazy Legs eating pigs feet on Saturday. Both are absent from the shoofly roster and both have already locked down their spot at the Nathan’s table, so it looks like they might be taking a shot at pigs feet. And why not? It’s one of the most bizarre sounding titles in MLE history. I’d be proud to be the pigs feet eating champion of the world.
