According to ratings announced today, 966,000 viewers watched Saturday's broadcast of the Nathan's finals on ESPN. Despite that number being the lowest since 2005 (860,000), it was the top rated original cable program for the day. The official rating was 0.32, down from 0.55 in 2019.

The numbers are, to me, surprising, yet not. Nathans is a go to viewing whether in person and on ESPN or just on ESPN. It shows the interest in competitive eating.

Surprisingly low. What else were people doing? It was a Saturday, a lot of people aren’t working, social distancing…what more could you ask for? Perfect conditions for a record-breaking TV audience.
