New poll: correct 2008 Nathan’s judging

The new poll asks if you think whether the judges should have declared Joey Chestnut or Takeru Kobayashi the winner of the Nathan’s finals and whether the contest should have gone into overtime. If you think that Kobayashi and/or Chestnut should have been disqualified, that option is also available.

You are allowed to chew after the contest ends. The problem is when you are still shoving food into your mouth after the time is up, like what Koby was doing.

They were both chewing, the fact that joey grabbed an entire dog more than koby at the end should have easily shown that koby should have won the contest since none of those dogs should have counted. Only what’s in the mouth counts and koby was one up at that time. I’m surprised Gentleman Joe was the only one that saw this besides me…?

Joey can fit three dogs in his mouth. Koby can barely do one and a half. Its not fair for Koby.

It isn’t fair that Joey can fit more in his mouth? This is competitive eating. It isn’t fair to others that they both can fit 60 plus hot dogs in their stomach.

Blizzz, Joey grabbed those dogs and put them in his mouth before the time was up, Koby grabbed two and TRIED to put them in his mouth before time was up, only he couldn’t, so they shouldn’t count.

What is the IFOCE rule for how long you get to clear your mouth after the contest ends?

Stuffing the food into your mouth just before the final bell is called chipmunking. It’s allowed. Stuffing food in your mouth well after the bell is called cheating. It’s not allowed. Joey’s hand covered his mouth the whole time, Koby’s hand came away from his mouth, WITH FOOD IN IT, and then he put it back over his mouth, and that food counted toward the 59. If you can’t see the difference, you need to either get LASIK surgery or just open your eyes.

That is the most ignorant post I’ve seen in a while. That makes as much sense as “Joey/Koby/Pat, etc have more stomach capacity than I do, so its not fair!! Wahhhhhhhh”. Get real.

Joey’s mouth is gigantic like Shirota’s. In both very short contests, like a minute or so, and in longer events, whereby eaters are in a virtual tie near the end, the eater with the substantially larger mouth will always win out.

Crazy Legs once used the term, two-dog stuff, when describing an end-of-contest tactic to get the most food in one’s mouth as possible as contest time expires. Joey can probably do a three-dog stuff.

I’m not knocking Joey, Shirota, or any of the larger mouthed competitors. They’re blessed as competitive eaters.

You guys are completely oblivious to what actually happened. Joey’s mouth was completely full before he even grabbed the dogs, therefore they wouldn’t fit. You can clearly see him just holding them up to his already full mouth. Same with koby, you can’t just grab dogs, hold them up to your mouth and expect them to count. Both Joey and Koby are to blame here because they both did it. The mere fact that Koby was ahead at this point indicates he should have won.

As for eating after the contest, who cares? If they want to eat more dogs after the contest, let them, they just shouldn’t count toward the totals. The judges screwed it up royally here by allowing them to do so. That’s what the judges are for, to see what has been eaten in regulation. Mike, you should know the rules if you know the terms.

You see it your way because you have an agenda. Think what you want, the results won’t change and I won’t argue with you. If thinking you’re right makes you happy, be happy.

I’m must say Blizz is a genious. He knows exactly what the rules are and what he’s talking about. I believe Koby won and Joey the whole contest had hotdog and bun flying everywhere and all over his face.

Hardy is only Human and I an sure he would be the First to admit he made a mistake by allowing Kobe to continue to eat after the final call to stop.
