New Poll: # of 2008 Nathan’s finals first-timers
The new poll asks how many first time competitors will there be in this years Nathan’s finals. Two rookies, Patrick Vandam and Juris Shibayama, have already qualified and there are 8 remaining qualifiers.
There will be at least three more finalists who did not compete in the 2007 finals because there are 5 eligible finalists from last year (Tim J, Chip, Pat P, Allen G and Hall) who have yet to qualify. 10 finalists from 2007 have already qualified: Joey, Pat B, Sonya, Bob, Juliet, Rich, Crazy Legs, Tim B, Erik and Arturo.

A. Nonymous I have to tell you…Just last night I was hungry and ate a pack of dogs w/ potato rolls for dinner…It was very tasty, w/ Ketchup and brown mustard. Then I thought about it and realized I ate more than half of USstale’s total and giggled to myself and thought wow that wing bowl thing must be fixed.

Where there’s water, there’s a Joey championship. Even if Koby shows, I would put Joey as the odds-on favorite. There’s a lot to be said for Joey being able to eat 13 HDBs in 1 minute. I saw him do it at-a-distance. So he has not only the most capacity but also the speed in HDBs.
And in that food alone, Koby is a close and decisive second, followed by Pat and Tim’, respectively. Sonya and Bob are within a couple of dogs of Tim, and in a virtual tie for fifth best.
After them come Chip, Patrick Van Damme, Tim Brown, and Rich, none of which will eat less than 30 HDBs.
Then Juris and Juliet (and possibly BL) will all be within a dog or two of the tre’, and one or more may even do 30.
Oh, how times have changed.

I would go as far as predicting that on the Fourth the median number of hot dogs eaten by all 20 eaters will be about 31 —– half the eaters will eat more than 31; half will eat less than that number.

You have no idea what the HDBs in Pitt were like, so you have no basis for comparison. Man up and compete. Until then you have no room to comment on any eater who competes. I was not going to respond to your pathetic comments “Jobu.” I just came home from work recently to see my one little comment, about working on getting better, is being ridiculed by someone who may not even be an eater. You are right that 13 HDBs will never see the final table. I can and will do much better in future Nathans events, even if it takes until next year. I am new to this food discipline and like some other eaters such as Dr Bigtime, Tim Janus, etc, I will improve over time. I am determined a to do so.
If you think the Wing Bowl was a fix, I will be glad to go one on one with you in wings anytime. There are internal problems with wing bowl, but my totals were up there and legit.
Thanks Steakbellie & Mike. At least most eaters are man (or woman) enough to identify themselves and have the backs of fellow eaters. Your opinion means nothing to me and I hope down the road to prove it. If not, I guess I suck as an eater. Oh well!

Yeah Jobu! You couldnt eat wings for crap against the Us Mail! He done did it twice and kicked lots of pros assess. HUmble Bob, Erik the Red, Dr Big Time, Steak Bellie, Wing Kong, Eater X all were crushed by his totals in the first round!
Once he has this down, I think he could take Joey and Pat in Wings. It would be hard, but he’s close.
