New Poll: Shirota’s ranking

The new poll asks where Nobuyuki “the Giant” Shirota should appear on a unified ranking containing IFOCE, AICE and Japanese eaters. Shirota defeated Kobayashi in 3 out of 4 Food Battle Clubs and ate 38 hot dogs in 2004 Nathan’s.

    With rankings, recency is paramount. Because he has done little eating-wise lately, and since his 38 dogs were 2 years ago, I would rank him about # 5. But there’s not wnough information to accurately guage him on.

    He definitely would not beat Joey today, in most foods, but he could potentially be better than eaters ranked # 3, 4, 5, etc. We just don’t know that for sure.

    Good point Rhonda.

    To make it further ‘Apples to Oranges’ Japanese Eating Contests seem to be a different format, with longer pure capacity trials. If the IFOCE followed their customs, then perhaps The Locust would be the #1 Eater in America.

    It’s fun to speculate, but unless he comes back for another Nathans or Krystals, it’s impossible to have an accurate assessment.

    either way, it’d be nice to see someone OBJECTIVELY create a list that includes all 3 entities.

    It would be very interesting ro see who has a better capacity, between The Locust and Jaws. As for eaters born in other countries we all know the Tsunami would be # 1, Gal Stone # 2 and then the Black Widow # 3. Any one who disagrees should watch the Gal Stone you tube videos. These are not fake!!

    Who, other than Gal Sone, would want to simply eat, and eat, and eat, just for the sake of seeing how much he or she can eat? But if you put a reasonable time limit of anywhere up to 20 or 30 minutes, I believe about 5 or 6 US eaters would outeat the Gal — Joey, Sonya, The Locust, Eater X, and Humble Bob. And if you make the contest 12 minutes or less, all top 10 IFOCE eaters would outeat her, as would some AICE 4-star eaters.

    And in a legitimate contest, Shirota would absolutely smoke her. He’s just letting himself be used to help make her look good. Why don’t you think Koby competes against her? Because Koby is a gurgitator. He’s not into dramatizations. That would lower both his stock and his credibility.

    I think that’s a lie. Luther, “I think shirota can still top kobey.” as you so kindly put it, I don’t agree. Won’t it be all over the news if “kobey” got beaten? Or was this years ago? Because that won’t be correct, see as Kobayashi has probably gotten better.
