New poll: Sonya Thomas’ CE future

The new poll asks if you think if Sonya Thomas will return to the IFOCE or if she will choose another course of action. SonyaTheBlackWidow.com has now been down for about a month after she announced she did not receive a slot in the Famous Famiglia pizza contest.

    There’s no way she would withdraw totally from competitive eating. She is too competitive and high spirited. Maybe she’s just on hiatus to think about things and to refocus or reorient her perspective on competitive eating.

    I actually agree with Rhonda on this one. I think she’ll taper her way down until eventually (3-4 years?) she’ll be done completely.

    El Predicto I’ll be surprised if she shows up at Nathan’s. She passed up well over a grand to skip the Krystal Finals, so that someone else could have a shot, and there’s even less money (for her) on July 4th.

    I dont think Sonya feels comfortable as a role player or front line pinch hitter. That’s basically what it comes down to. Sure she will report on her website that she doesnt mind playing second fiddle to Joey , Pat and a few others but after a few third or fourth place finishes she would get tired of losing and end up quitting.I think anyone that is used to being on top would follow the same path. With Juliet getting most of the attention certainly didnt help matters. Pulling out of Nathans and Krystals means it’s basically over unless another goldenpalace falls into the lap of the IFOCE

    I’d say she’s ripe for the picking by another organization, just as soon as Dale uses the right encouragement. Even though he’s obnoxious Sonya never seemed to have a problem with him. Besides, Shea and company have Juliet so they won’t care.

    Unless Dale has some big loot stashed away in a vault to pay sonya for a special occasion like this, Sonya would laugh in his face. What does she have to gain competing in a $500 purse and a $250 signing bonus. . How often do they run an event? Once every 8 months? Do you think Dale is going to permit anyone to win besides him?

    As retired CFO; Only 9 competitors have earned over $5,000 and only 2 months left this year. If; they pay own travel and living expences wihile traveling–CEing–can be only a SIDELINE. Competitors must find way and time to make a living elsewhere. For some its gamble to save enough money to compete in event, and to make back the money in the event? If: Sonya had her own business she would be far more competitive as she would have time and money to compete in morte event if she wanted to. I think she will end up in International circuit, Japanese women competive eaters get Tv shows, Jobs at modeling, radio and TV stations etc. And, they have their own magazine as well as lots of TV and publicty appearances. It a much fuller life than competetiors have here.
