New poll – top US state for competitive eating
The new poll asks what you think the top state in the US for competitive eating is. Use what ever basis you want, such as number of top ranked eaters, number of contests, amount of famous restaurant challenges, etc. Since the poll only allows 20 choices maximum, only the top 20 states in population are listed.

Clearly it’s PA but with an ironical twist.
We have the greatest amount of ranked IFOCE Eaters (7)
but nearly the least IFOCE contests (3) (four if you count Wing Bowl)
What GIVES?????

Virgina has two top 10 IFOCE eaters and one 4-star AICE-affiliated eater. So that state shouldn’t be last anyway.

California does not represent too well contest wise. I think there have only been like 2 this past year (dumplings & asparagus). Correct me if there were more.

It’s definitely Pennsylvania. We’ve got the eaters (both aspiring and ranked — whaddup UEPa!), the contests (Wing Bowl, Shoofly pie, and…the other two Steakbellie was referring to), and the restaurants (including the greatest restaurant challenge of them all: The Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub Ye Old 96er).
AND we’ve the greatest variety of indigenous foods, from pierogies in Pittsburgh to pretzels and shoofly pie in the midstate to cheesesteaks in Philly. How can you argue with that?

Shoofly & Cheesesteaks described as “Indigenous Foods”. Thats awesome. Dave’s got such a great point because we have such a Roster depth of unranked eaters and AICE & Independent Eaters. Hell, we got guys who can drink a twelvepack and still hit Santa with an iceball…deadon at Eagles Halftime.
Dennys! Tony Luke’s! Ginos! Pats! Chickie & Pete’s!
There are so many historic places in this Commonwealth that offer Man-food. Come on down and the UEPA will give ya the tour….

Does Mega Munch know the definition of indigenous? Pretzels and pierogies aren’t indigenous to Pennsylvania. They’re European! Like my carry-all.

before the new eaters most of the old school eaters were from the new york and n.y metropolatan area . it only makes sense n.y. is the culinary capital of the world.
