Really? Pete?!? In the same breath as Joey?

    This is a ridiculous poll.

Why not throw in Ken Wong for good measure.

    Or the Hangman.

I mean at some point, regardless of whether you’re a fan of Joey’s or not, don’t you have to give credit to the guy for eating an insane amount of hot dogs and beating Kobayashi?

Pete was much more impressive than Joey last year. Joey lost several times to so-so eaters, but Pete beat everyone handily. If Joey wasn’t afraid he would meet Pete somewhere to settle it, but he knows he is not in Joey’s league. Don’t give me the rule breaking excuse either. As for the females no one ate enough to be able to decide, but any of the Japanese girls are better than any women who live over here, including the great Tomoko Miyake.

There is more to competitive eating than eating. You could make a big case for Brian Seiken, Don Lerman, Crazy Legs Conti, Tim Janus, Arnie Chapman. Joe Menchetti, Pete Davekos and Brad Scuillo. Also let’s throw in Koby just for laughs. They get lots of attention. Out of those Gentleman Joe is probably the best eater.

Beautiful brian is not considered a top ranked competitive eater and that is the reason why

I wish people would lay off the hangman. He stopped making annoying comments months ago but still one or two very sick individuals even went so far as poking fun at his speech impediment. I have no respect for anyone that mocks a handicap

Im gonna give the nod to Pat and Pete.
    Pete for speed
    Pat for capacity.

Nobody has mocked the Hangman for quite some time. Those that did poke fun at his speech problem are insensitive jerks but there has not been any negative comments about him in a long time. Seems the Hungman is even taking a break from posting.

Rich Lefevre has been doing it longer than anyone, and if this was over all capacity without a time limit, he’s the best – followed by Deep Dish. Sonya is still by far the top female eater – I hope she will still be a regular this year – she deserves more than flipping Whoppers.

I think Joey and Pete are both impressive. But Joey has beaten the legend himself, Kobayashi, twice in the same year, at the two most recognized venues in competitive eating —- Nathan’s and Krystals. Yet, Pete remains undefeated.

Whether the competition is better or not in either organization, who’s to really say? I never thought Koby would be headed in competition, but I was wrong. Many people may be underestimating Pete, especially a year from now, as he continues to improve.

Pete hasn’t even competed for a full year yet…I’m impressed. I think we will see what he is really made of in the next year…

I don’t know that anyone could’ve done any better than Pete did this year, but you still have to give it to Joey. Going undefeated in AICE is damn impressive, but it’s not the same thing as being #1 in IFOCE. Sorry Pete – I want to give it to you, but I just can’t.
