I don’t mean to be hater — so congratulations should go out to Eric.

Yet, with no disrespect, how on earth is this a record? I mean 19 chili dogs in 53 minutes? That’s not a contest, that’s a leisure lunch. Do the math, if Joey had 53 minutes at Nathan’s he would have eaten 340 hotdogs — and looking at the pictures, the Nathan’s dogs look bigger. Granted, Joey’s stomach probably would have exploded after 15 minutes.

    Just a thought.

So, once again, congrats to Eric. Nice job.

Could do and actually doing are two completely different things. That’s how it’s a record.

Good point Steakbellie. Eric deserves credit for eating more than anyone else — a record is a record.

BTW I read your stuff in “How Things Work.” Nice job.

HJP III, If you can eat 19 Chili dogs in 2 hours – I’ll eat the recycled products you produce afterwards

Most people out there can not eat 19 Chili Dogs in an hour. Give the guy some congrats.

Yeah, there’s a lot to consider here. How big are the hot dogs? How much chili is on them? Sure, the record isn’t as eyepopping as some of the numbers Joey, Pat and the gang put up, but 19 chili dogs in less than our is an impressive feat for a dude who just decided to take a shot at a restaurant challenge. Besides, what he did still puts him in the top ONE PERCENT of the population (or better) when it comes to eat feats.

If there’s one bad thing about all of these insane numbers we see on the IFOCE tour, it’s that they diminish the great accomplishments of regular Joes like Eric Bridenstine.
