Norman Chad, poker commentator for ESPN, has a column in the Washington Post decrying the University of Maryland's competitive eating team. (I would assume gambling has ruined more lives than competitive eating, but I do not have exact statistics.)

That’s a funny article in that Norman Chad firmly believes that U of M’s basketball and football program should be eliminated or made into a club sport. He makes no reference to poker. OJ’s statistical analysis not needed, common sense applies.
