    Last year they said the same thing,FOR AMATEURS,& they let Joe Menchetti compete &,of course win.He’s alternately an amateur or professional,depending on what suits him.What can you expect from this blowhard,honesty?

    In my opinion to be considered a professional, you must be able to sustain a living from it. Hence a “profession”. There are, MAYBE a handful of eaters that fit this definition. Juliet, doesn’t fit, Joe LaRue, neither. Kobi, Joey, Bertoletti, Janus, BOB & Pete, maybe, Sonya if they continue w/a womens division.

    Depending on the length of a contest, I do call myself either world class or semi-pro. Also, I call it a profitable (usually) hobby.

    By some definitions gafoon could be considered a “pro”. (not mine) Has he been in ifoce/mle events? YES. Has he been in aice/ape events? YES. Has he won a contest? YES. Doritos.

    I have been in touch w/Jo’s. I am out this yr. If gafoon is lucky, maybe they’ll take him. He’ll lose, but it will be a nice meal away from the soup kitchens for him.

    Wow,a comment worthy of Seiken from someone who has just shown that money does not equate class.You should go into politics,G-Joe,you make bullshit almost seem like facts(you should work for the Republican party).So I could be considered a pro,even though I’m the world’s worst competitive eater,but you retain your amateur status because…what was that again?The Cheshire Cat is elusive,indeed.(And what exactly does “gafoon” mean?)

    The only reason he was able to get into MLE events was because he finds out through this site or IFOCE.com shows up the day of the event and begs for a spot at the table . AICE didnt find out about him till Jill complained about it

    Urban Dictionary says that gafoon is the “Americanization of the Italian word “cafone,” much like “goombah” versus the actual Italian word “compare.” The basic meaning is a fool, idiot, or someone without any class and is used by some Italian-Americans. Gafoon may also take influence from the english “buffoon” as “gavone,” another Americanization of “cafone,” is closer to the actual word.” It is not a compliment but that should be no surprise.     Wow(again),EatFeats actually has some intelligent readers(actually,I just looked it up & found the same thing),but I’m seriously thinking of changing my name to ‘the great vitellone’.I need to point out that MLE is way too professional to allow anyone to show up the day of the contest & be allowed to participate-as I found out at last year’s San Gennero Cannoli Contest-but seriously folks,I hope Menchetti wins this Saturday’s pizza contest because his main opponent is not only a bigger asshole,but a homophobe & a bigger dick.I won’t name names,but If I’m able to tear myself away from the baseball games,which is what I look forward to every Saturday,I will stick a camera in their faces & probably say something stupid.Don’t count on it because I love the Mets even more than making a fool of myself.
