Randy Santel has been propagating this as an excuse for years now.

Person asks on facebook: I have to ask isn’t it unhealthy to keep gaining and losing? I know you do your challenges for a living so I’m sure there’s weight gain but is there a point where you’ll have to stop for health reasons? Thank you.

Randy’s typical reply: I definitely don’t recommend it!! lol the only way to do what I do and avoid the weight gain is to throw everything up like most eaters do these days, but I can’t / won’t do that as a dietitian. I’ll lose my credentials.

Sure, there might be some gain but I’ve seen his eating and drinking outside of challenges (at least what he posts on social) but not as much as he gains weight wise. Becoming severely obese (and this atlas stuff is so funny now with this flexing his arms like a bodybuilder for many years now) and be a walking heart attack/stroke is definitely avoidable. He’s postponed his retirement for years now. He’s failed now for years to do it. He won’t stop. And, yes, being that overweight for years now he is sacrificing his health. Anyone who is obese is not healthy. He is going to have all this loose skin to deal with because he let himself go to shit and stating it’s all because he doesn’t want to puke. Well, if he truly gets down in bodyweight to where he should be for health. It’s probably 100lbs from where he is starting at 6’5″. He could have also modified his approach to doing challenges along the way too to compensate. I mean does anyone care about # of challenge wins? No.

There isn’t anyone chasing him stating numbers to compete with him. He long ago established himself as a legend in challenge eating.

I like Randy, but I think it would be awesome to see him do one solid year without challenges. Of course he would be able to document the journey. He has enough viewers to afford a brief rerouting of his channel.
He might actually see growth if mainstream media jumps on it.
In the end though, he is his own man and you don’t have to agree with his lifestyle.

Randy was the trailblazer, so to speak, in what being a full time challenge eater who made a living off this activity would look like. Part of why he postpones the retirement (to my mind) is that the income from various social media venues is inconsistent. He may be drawing money from Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, but it requires him to maintain a schedule of posting that is breakneck. He has built up a standard of living that requires him to keep a high income. Health unfortunately becomes secondary sometimes where money is concerned. It looks shortsighted at times but some of us get lucky. Also, Randy needs to make sure he has money saved and invested for when he decides to truly hang it up. It would be terrible if he had to get back in the game after leaving it.

Dude Whats Your Point ?? Randy LOVES DOING FOOD CHALLENGES . From the first time I met him I knew that. What you’re not stating is that Randy has made a nice little Empire $$$ doing Food Challenges . Plus he’s able to travel the World doing it . Randy has is own style. Yea Randy won’t throw up on purpose after challenges . That’s his style no one else’s. Randy even though he gains a ton of weight on the road filming always takes the last 2 to 3 months of the year to diet the weight off. Randy has the knowledge to lose all the weight when he’s ready . And I’m sure he is very aware of his current health . Now how about you . You do food challenges. Are you over weight. Worry about yourself . Greg The Savage Wilson
