They animal rights activists try that every year and nobody listent to them. Pass out information total waste of time. The committee is run by shriveled up marathon runners that eat sunflower seeds and raisins all day . If the contest went vegan 3/4 of the competititors would walk off the stage

Oh that’s going to over real big. Promoting vegetarianism at the largest hot dog eating contest in the world. Hey, I’ll tell you what guys, stay at home on the fourth and we won’t send any competitive eaters to start up a big pig barbeque at your next salad festival for love and understanding.

If you go back in time peace demonstrations protests and activists have accomplished absolute nothing. .

The pro hot dog opposition could hire Furious Pete and we’d have a PETA vs PETA showdown.

Saw a great t-shirt that says.. “PETA” People Eating Tasty Animals… And on the back.. “There’s room for all of God’s creatures next to my mashed potatos.”

ah, well played with the homer simpson quote! it’s just a little airborne, it’s still good, it’s still good!!!

honestly, who cares? not like these folks are going to cause a disturbance or influence the contest in any way. you may not agree with going veggie, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have the right to pass out literature. politely decline their offer. no need for any ruffled feathers.

i was veggie for 4 years before getting into CE, and i was the healthiest i’ve ever been. CE is fun, but there is no denying it is hella unhealthy.

    live and let live.

PCRM might be able to make more of a point if everybody on stage was obese, but that’s not the case. When you have folks on stage with small statures like Eater X, Matt Stonie, and all of the women, you might be able to argue AGAINST vegetarianism, especially when the largest self-proclaimed vegetarian is larger than most other eaters.

FF to 2032 i will bet the ranch that one or more of the young competitors on stage will develop a heart condition or worse if they keep up this kind of lifestyle

This doesn’t have anything to do with having the right BMI, being obese or not, or even eating healthy. Eating 60 HDBs, vegan or not, has about equal consequences for your body. This just aims to promote vegetarianism, and while i respect their freedom to speak their minds and all that i don’t thing this is the right way to do it.

“Ghost,” I agree with you. It would be most interesting to conduct a longitudinal study over a period of at least a decade, per se, of the effects of competitive eating on health / longevity (e.g. heart disease, cancer, mortality rates, etc.).

But I would certainly hate to be in the control group of competitive eaters participating in the study.

Well, I for one am so glad to see people out there who care so much for my well-being. I’m going to accept every pamphlet they give me and greet them warmly with a big smile, friendly handshake, and if appropriate, a warm hug. I might even carry around some broccoli in my back pocket. Then we can spread out a blanket and have some crisp celery picnic. That would be so much more fun than watching somebody try and eat more than 80 hotdogs in 10 minutes.

If the ingredients shown on the back of a 6 pack of Nathans hot dogs is accurate , and you consume 10 packs of those , the heart is in for big trouble down the line
