Looks like we have a new top female in the world. I wonder what her total was. Congratulations and way to go in dethroning that other woman.

Sonya did not compete. She showed up late as the contest was ending. Eater X also did not wear his trade mark face paint…possibly the reason he lost.

Ive never seen an eater that showed up late or not at all as often as sonya. It seems like a shame though because she might have at least finished in the top three. But I dont know. She hasnt been doing very good lately. I dont expect her to be around to much longer.

I’d like to see her eat 50 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. Never in a trillion years of training could she do that.

Her total winning total was 23 dozen. That’s a very very good number but I think she and Eater X both are very happy that the Sonya was a no show.

Smart move for Spiderwoman. Why should she take the chance to be embarassed twice in the same weekend?

The only thing she can win anymore is a qualifiier and she might lose if she even shoes up.

Congratulations to the lovely Juliet Lee today. She is a proven champ.

WIng Kong put on a great performance and proved why he is one of the best swallow specialists on the circuit.

The highlight was Sonya showing up late and storming off like a mad bull when she saw the contest ended. Being there at noon for a 1:00 contest does not mean show up at 1:50. Clams don’t sit well in the sun for long.

Really, it’s not worth paying any attention to about 80 percent of those anonymous comments. Most are ridiculous with no purpose but to stir trouble.

Anyway, congratulations Juliet. You certainly did well this weekend: two for two.

Also, I believe Eater X would have done much better if he had worn his face paint.

Perhaps next year we can have both Pat Bertoletti and Sonya there.

Great job on your piece about the contest BB. You have an original spin on things, whether people agree with you or not, and more people appreciate it than not, even if they state otherwise.

Congrats to Juliet – and Tim, showing up without face paint is like Superman going on a mission in his undies…..wait, he sort of does that….

Clamey Clam It makes no sense to expect everyone, except for perhaps the locals, to show up an hour before a contest. Some people have to catch flights which today are often delayed, or have to travel several hundred miles by ground transportation. If a person is going to be late the person should call to inform the emcee what time to expect them. I don’t know if Sonya called or not. If she did the emcee needs his ass kicked. But there has to be a limit, becaue it’s not fair for other eaters to have to wait an hour or more for someone to show up. It’s unfortunate that the best oyster eater in the world got delayed. I’m sure it wasn’t planned, because, no one would have come within 10 dozen clams of her. Just look at who she beat and the winning margin in the oyster contest only a month ago, and the oysters were double the size of the clams. The fact that Sonya showed up 50 minutes after the contest started means she probably busted her Korean butt to get there. It’s just an unfortunate situation all the way around. Sonya surely didn’t win yesterday, but perhaps MLE lost the most. Think about it.

Nobody wins in this forum. Are we expected to wait 2hours for Sonya to arrive? Ryan tried his darnnest to make every effort to wait for Sonya. He attempted to kill as much time as possible but the contest didnt get started until 1:50 instead of 1:00. In Sonya’s defense she did text Ryan on a number of occasions saying that she is on her way but certain obstacles just cant be helped. I could understand her frustration after busting her butt to get there only to find out the contest was over . As great a performance as Juliet put on, Sonya would have beaten her . Not saying that to be nasty , i know what Sonya is capable of putting away, so case closed on that. The clams took a huge toll on my intestines and im still suffering as im writing . I am sure that other competitors in that contest feel my pain. I get urges contrary to swallow when i try to watch the video . . Badlands , myself and Arturo had to eat a couple of dozen for the morning show which didnt help matters. Nicest bunch of guys running the show at Peters clam bar.

You know BB, based on all the information I have read and synthesized, that’s really a tough spot for all. You can’t blame Ryan, because he has to appease the sponsors, the spectators, and the other eaters —- and the waiting-to-be-eaten clams themselves. Sonya must have really been in a quandary, for apparently obstacles presented themselves that were far beyond her control

As for me, when things like that happen, I just chalk it up to karma, as something that is not meant to be, and I don’t dwell on them anymore. Enough things present themselves daily to be concerned with without carrying past things forward. That doesn’t make sense.

People sometimes have places to be and obligations to tend to after a contest is scheduled to have ended. It would be inappropriate and unfair to greatly inconvenience the eaters who have shown up on time so that another eater can be late. Honestly, if the contest is important to you, leave early. If it’s a holiday weekend, leave even earlier. If you want to fly or drive in from out of town the day of a contest, fine…go ahead, go for it. But don’t get mad at anyone but yourself when the world won’t wait for you.

I feel bad for poor Hank who had to deal with her all the way back to VA.

I am not knocking Sonya for being late. Yes the contest would have been better with her in it but quite a bit of contestants traveled from afar and were there early. You have to plan accordingly with weekend & holiday traffic. The world does not revolve around one person. Accidents happen but she’ll certainly plan better next time we hope.

Ryan did everything he possibly could to delay the event but do the eaters really want to eat clams that are sitting out in the sun for a long period of time. Does the IFOCE want the eaters to get terribly sick because of one person being very late. I do not think so.

    Case closed

Sadly enough several eaters including Butiful Brian did get sick on account of Sonya and it could have gotten worse if they let raw clams bake in the sun for an extended period of time. Show up early next time .BTW i bet you dont have the balls to call Ed Jarvis a fat f— to his face?

It’s over. It’s done. Why dwell on it? What one thing will be gained by continuing to address it. Let the chips fall where they may. It’s all part of life’s lessons.
